@Nibraybirk Neither am I, but your claim that Nintendo is still holding up the gaming industry is just crazy. As I said many posts ago, in the mid 80s-early 90s you would be 100% right. Nintendo was the top dog on the gaming mountain, and nothing was going to stop them. Once the competition rolled in they had to stay ahead of the game with innovations which they did, but at the cost of being "innovative" they lacked in other departments. Though Nintendo has always had the best first party games for every console and I don't think anyone can deny that, their biggest downfall was the poor third party games... for every console.

@Nibraybirk I am saying that this industry is a dog eat dog industry. I think the bulk of gamers are done with the gimmicks. Motion controls, balance boards etc... are just not a selling point anymore.

And that is a moot point. Nintendo started sooner then everyone else. The mid 70's I think, and even before then they were making card games I think. They had a monstrous head start and did well with it and I won't argue what they have done.

@Nibraybirk Ok I am in no way an X-box fan, but that system is not going anywhere. And yes I saw E3. Which part of E3 are you referring too, definitely not the underwhelming, drawn out and boring Nintendo conference that only had Pikmin 3 on display to wet the Nintendo fanboy's whistles.

@Nibraybirk You are living in the past. Motion controls were a wonderful selling gimmick for the Wii. Obviously by the time Sony and MS tried to capitalize on it, everyone was already over it. LOL being "original" doesn't ensure a future! Nor will it ever.

@Nibraybirk And look where that gets you (yea... I mean you SEGA). Motion controls=gimmick! 3D worlds and analog are hard to argue though. All brains and no brawn in this industry doesn't mean you will survive for long. Nintendo is scarping by right now, and that is only because of the 3DS sales.

@Nibraybirk How are you this closed minded and blind? Nintendo isn't failing, and will continue to strive for a long long time, but they are not where they were years ago. Sony and Microsoft are fighting for that top seat, while Nintendo is just minding its own business in the corner. The WiiU can't go head to head with the PS4 or 720, and it will be an afterthought once both of these are released (mind you I am strictly a PC gamer).

Nintendo's strong point will be the handheld area. The 3DS XL sales will make up for the poor WiiU sales that are bound to happen. While the VITA is a beyond worthy competitor in the handheld department, until it gets some worthwhile games, it's never going to hold a candle to the DS sales.

@Nibraybirk SEGA was just as innovative as Nintendo ever was. Just because SEGA doesn't make hardware anymore is irrelevant. The Genesis was just as good if not better in every way then the Super NES. (I am not saying that the SNES is bad though). Grant it the Saturn was a flop, but the Dreamcast sure wasn't. The Game Gear also was a far superior handheld to the Gameboy.

Both companies can be credited in their own way, but by no means is Nintendo holding up the gaming world anymore. I'd say Sony took that honor when they drove SEGA out of the hardware business in 2001.

@deathblow3 The ATARI systems never stood a chance against the NES. They were outdated, clunky, expensive, sloppy, and just too far behind to ever catch up. The Sega MARK III was the only worth competitor for the NES as the graphics and games were evenly matched. So yes, they had other competitors, but once Nintendo dethroned ATARI by releasing the NES, nothing ever came as close to putting up a fight as the MARK III, and it wasn't much of a fight honestly. Nintendo was unstoppable during the NES years.

@Nibraybirk Obviously you missed the point I was trying to make. While Nintendo dominated in the mid 80s-early 90s, once the Genesis (16 bit) and Playstation (32 bit) emerged, Nintendo was no longer the top dog by some insanely large gap. Nintendo was finally knocked down to an even level with its competitors.

@Nibraybirk Um yea maybe in 1986 during the 8-bit era since they only had the SEGA Mark III to contend with (which I felt was better anyway). Ever since the 16-bit and 32-bit wars, Nintendo has been fighting an uphill battle.
