Didn't someone start a thread very recently about this very possibility??  Hmmm.  Must be someone with great insight into the wrestling industry.

:P

Okay, apparently I'm telepathic.  Go to rohwrestling.com.

No.  Well, not any time soon and especially not monthly PPVs anytime soon.

It would not be financially sound.  I don't think you appreciate the massive production upgrades they'd need to undertake to do a live PPV.  ROH has a small, loyal fanbase that would pay, but the emphasis here is  on small.  They are years away from PPV being an option.

Monthly PPVs are a major problem with the industry, IMO.  They overload the market (especially with WWE jacking up the price every now and again).  TNA can't build **** for their monthly PPVs and they've got TV time,

Also, ECW had syndication in several key markets (Philly, NYC), ROH does not.  ECW also never did monthly PPVs.  ECW ran one PPV every 2 months, giving them time to build.

ROH is making money, so they'll continue to exist and continue to grow.  ECW died because they tried to grow too fast and made some bad decisions.  ROH is trying to learn from that mistake.  They'll do PPV and TV when they can make money off of it.  They have tremendous turnaround on their DVDs (they get their DVDs out nearly as fast as WWE does, these days).

There is no reason for rush, if you really want to support ROH, buy the DVDs go to the shows that you can, continue to support them and someday they will get PPV and you can have the satisfaction of knowing you helped them get there.

And Buy the Shirt!

The_Dude14

I agree with all this (if you'll note, in my original post I didacknowledge the costs of doing PPV), and perhaps the wording of my topic was a little off.  I don't think ANYBODY should have monthly PPVs...like you said, market overload.  Maybe every other month, or even quarterly.  And I do support ROH through their online site...I just don't like "blind ordering" DVDs of matches I've never seen before...I know I can pick out which ones "look" good based on favorite performers...but otherwise it's kind of a crapshoot...

Your T-shirt link made me laugh...here I was expecting it to be a plain ol' ROH T-Shirt.  I was just contemplating buying an NRC shirt the other day.  God Bless Heels!!

WHAT?!?!  I think maybe Detroit, Chicago, or anywhere out east, but in it's entire 5 year existence, ROH has been to St. Paul no more than three times...and it doesn't sound like date #4 is even being thought of yet.  So six times a year?  Yeah, I think not.

I definitely think ECW Tag Titles.

But something I think ECW could really improve on is their Tag Team division.

MistaMike54

First of all, I think that statement applies to all three "brands," not just ECW.  If Tag Team belts are made a focus in ECW, I think Tag Teams should be ECW's "exclusive," much like Raw has the Women's Championship and SD! has the Cruiserweight championship.  Unify the WWE and the World Tag Team titles, bring the newly unified belts (along with all the real tag teams) to ECW.  That would actually be pretty cool.

My only motivation for starting this thread is that I love ROH, but it is not so easily accessible to someone who doesn't live on the East Coast (much like ECW used to be 'back in the day').

I was mildly curious if anyone else thought it might make sense for ROH to start putting out PPVs, perhaps once a month or once every two months.  I know PPV events take a lot of time a resources to put together, so it might not even be possible for ROH at this time...but the wouldn't necessarily have to be live events, just perhaps a "best of" that month type of show, with storyline recaps (for the few storyline that are actually ongoing in ROH) and the best matches of that month.  Value price it at about twenty bucks...I know I would buy every month!

Any thoughts?

The only arguement I want to make is that Orton is most likely being jobbed out for his own foolishness that makes the WWE look bad (ie., constantly failing drug tests, destroying hotel rooms, etc.).

However, it does seem like ECW is the only brand that has it right with the heels...but sadly I think that's because Vince hates everything associated with the old ECW, therefore the Originals get jobbed out more often than not.

My first thought was to go with the ECW TV Title, simply for the fact of how prestigious it was back in the day.  The man that made the belt, however, is most likely leaving the company by the sounds of things......

My second thought was to bring back the WWE Hardcore title, to actually have some purpose to half of the matches being "Extreme rules" and half of them not.  Then I got afraid that WWE would bring back that awful 24/7 rule, which made the hardcore title a complete joke (granted, I liked those battle royals where the HC title changed hands roughly a dozen times, but the segments with the HC Title being won in hotel room hallways by definite non-wrestlers was too much).

So I decided that I would like to see the ECW Extreme Rules Title, with it's own defined rule set separating it from the HC title.

Okay, I had the joy of being at the St. Paul show Friday night.  It was a great show, but I think the show from August was better...but that's just my opinion.

Since ROH is seemingly NOT coming back to the Twin Cities in the near future  I may just have to convince my buddy to drive down to Chicago with me on 06/23 for Danielson v. KENTA!!  I miss AmDrag, and would love to see KENTA stiff the hell out Bryan live and in person....
