That looks really fun.

Sadly I don't know a single person who is into fighters except for one person I know who loves Tekken. He only loves Tekken though, so he won't play Killer Instinct with me :P

Ā

Because the current ones are outdated.

I expanded on the idea earlier in the thread.

There is far more to value in a gaming console than graphics because nothing the PS4 can do is unable to be done on the Xbox One. Every game on the PS4 could run on the Xbox One. It won't be a huge enough gap that you are actually getting a different gaming experience out of it.

If someone is actually looking for an enhanced experience then the PC is where to go to find it since the graphics will improve every year (not to mention the control options), and it'll eventually get games that aren't doable on the consoles much like what happened this gen, and the gen before.Ā

This is the problem I have with the discussion. There is perhaps a ~10% difference in power between the Xbox One and PS4. Are people honestly putting "graphics" as the top priority when it comes to which console they're buying? Why not features? Why not games? Why graphics when there will be no difference in the experience provided by both consoles?

Last gen, I remember very well, there was a discussion about Mafia 2 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Xbox version had grass, and the PS3 version did not.

This is what the graphics discussions will be like between the Xbox One and PS4 because the difference is so small.Ā

700Gflosp on GCN between the PS4 and xbox is 10% at what fu***ng school you learn math bro.

Ā

Yah, the GPU is 50% more powerful. How about the rest of the console?

How is an entire console 50% more powerful if only one part of it is 50% more powerful?

If graphics are important to you then get a PC.

If that's the case, why are they releasing next gen consoles.....

Snugenz

You would think...

I think these fanboys don't actually care about graphics the only thing they care about is having something better than the other person. Cows on SW spend much more time talking about the X1 and searching the net for info on the X1, and even in PS4/3 topics they always bring up the X1.

I'm sure that's the case.

It's troublesome to read though. It's as if fanboys on Systems wars either don't remember, or weren't alive, when the PS1 and PS2 were the #1 products in gaming when their competitors clearly beat them in the graphics department.

The PS3 was a year behind and it still managed to finally catch up and win the race before the next gen starts. (lol wii u...cute) What on gods name do you think the PS4 will do to the Xbone with both consoles releasing in the same month? Will the sales gap be like what the PS2 did to the Xbox?

Omega-316

It's not as if the PS3 was at a complete disadvantage.

The original Xbox was an unpopular brand in Japan and Europe prior to the 360 release (and still is unpopular in Japan, and in many European markets). The Xbox also only sold 27 million units so brand recognition was tiny in general at that point. Along with that the 360 was also the only console with pay2play online multiplayer, and it suffered from RROD which kept a lot of people from buying it.

The Xbox 360 had a ton of things going against it, and still managed to sell as well, if not better, than Playstation, and it also accumulated more games, and more software sales. That's a pretty huge win.

This gen starts out differently than last, but there is no way to guarantee a winner before launch because we don't know what will happen. A few questions you could ask are:

  • Is it the mainstream audience preordering PS4's at launch, or the hardcore fanbase? Will the PS4 sell steadily for the next 5 years, or drop off after the initial launch phase much like the Wii U did?
  • Will the PS4 suffer a DRE or RROD type problem that causes people to distrust the product, and move elsewhere?Ā
  • Will the Xbox One see a humungous increase in hardware sales after its first price drop much like the PS3 did?Ā
  • Will the casual audience flock back to smartphones/tablets after the launch phase is over leaving every console to sell less than their predecessor?

And so on, and so forth. There are a ton of potential situations that can result in success, or failure for any of the console makers. There's NO POSSIBLE WAY to gauge success based off of past success, or preorders.

I don't think it's that stupid of a reason.

I've never liked the dualshock controller very much (1-3, the one on the PS4 looks far better). The controller is how you play the game. If it's not comfortable then your entire gaming experience suffers because of it.

The dualshock is a big reason I stay away from multiplats on Playstation, and even away from some genres. Shooters, in particular, I've always disliked on Playstation due to the controller.

Then there is a whole crowd of people who won't PC game because they "hate" keyboard/mouse, and 99% of system wars won't game on tablets or smartphones because of touch input.

But whatever. If you aren't comfortable gaming on certain devices then that's a pretty darn good reason to not buy something for gaming. You can say "Oh, well just buy a 3rd party controller", but I know from experience in the past that I have never ever used a 3rd party controller that was better than the 1st party offering.

It was really the game that took off enough to get everyone to notice much like Farmville was to Facebook gaming for a little while.
