I am not disagreeing with your assesment, I am just pointing out that it should not be a reason to declare it as a con on a review as it is easily rectified with the existence of at least 2 higher difficulty settings on all recent games.
The normal difficulty has been toned down to easy actually, just to cater to the ego of the more casual gamers.
@The_Beanster @Lucasdxx Your not breaking anything to me my insistant friend, you are just refusing to understand that I am quite happy with my gpu performance and for the last time I am maxing out on the provided dx9/dx10 settings and don't care much about the little extra effects that dx11 provides.
ERGO: I will still happily play the rest of the games that are more considerate to older configuration PCs and play Crysis 3 sometime in the future...when I choose to upgrade, and not because you or Crytec say so!
I do not have to lie on a forum thread to prove my point, your knowledge on computers seems limited to the hardware you use probably.
I am maxing it out on the settings provided in the menus,I suppose DX9 or DX10 probably, I have a GTS 250 and although dated it can run the games I mentioned with more than decent framerates, let me repeat WITH ALL PROVIDED settings at max and the visuals are enough for me.
I have seen the difference and the effects of DX11 are quite an improvement but not in a way that make DX9/DX10 obsolete, at least for my taste.
For upgrading I'd rather it be later than sooner, and as for Crytek telling me anything at all doesn't mean diddly squat as long as the rest of the developers show more interest for gamers like me that want to get all they can out of there machines.
Maybe Crytek doesn't care that I will not spend 50-60 euros to play their game, suits me fine as I will play the game when I finally upgrade sometime in the future and pay 10-15 euros for their 1-2 year old game from the bargain bin.
Mr VanOrd, a game that is too easy on the normal difficulty is your recurring complaint, bordering on being an obsession of yours, just ramp up the difficulty and give it a rest.
Now, the game being only dx11 is a real flaw, as there are PS3 and xbox360 versions that work with dx9, so it proves it wasn't omitted on the PC for cost reasons.It was just an inconsiderete marketing gimmick to declare its technical "superiority" over other recent titles.
I don't care what the rest of people say to justify that its about time only dx11 is supported. I will not upgrade just to play ONE game, as my hardware is still capable of playing beautifully most of the recent games with maxed graphics at a 1920x1200 resolution(Dishonored, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Dead Space 3 among others).
For those that are interested in getting the most out of the visuals from this game, and are somewhat computer savvy there is a thread on the official steam forums where a 3rd party game developer, as an avid fan and out of his good heart, has an extensive guide of how and where to tweak the game ini files and enable things like dx10 textures, FoV, bloom, dynamic shadows and many other effects that for some forsaken reason the game devs chose to omit from the in game settings GUI. I followed his instructions and I saw a huge improvement, the game looked like the demo they showed us last year and was nothing like the disaster the finished product came out as.
Furthemore he has tweaks to allocate more memory to enemy AI, which results in xenos becoming more fast and bouncy on their feet and thus making them much harder to get a hit on(used walls and ceilings much more). Mild Spolier Alert: For example during the Raven Xeno encounter, in Ultimate Badass diff, I died 4 times because the Raven kept sidestepping my clunky loader swipes and hitting me from behind, behavior I didn't notice before the tweaks. It almost seems that someone purposfully chose to bog everything down in this game and actively sabotage it.
On a last note don't hesitate to turn everything to max, I have a 4 year old quad with a Nvidia GF 250 GTS and the tweaks run like a charm.

Myst and Riven where artistic and beautiful in their time, they also had a point and where extremely fun and challenging, maybe it is just me but I fail to see the beauty in blocky graphics in pastel colors. Furthermore if their is no goal but to wander around then it is not a game, it is something else.
