Bowling with my parents and grandparents. I've gamed since Atari 2600 and not one other time have my folks joined in. I think the Wii makes people comfortable enough to try to play for the first time.

It's normal. Drained batteries will charge a substantial percentage in a short amount of time (e.g., 30%-80%), but take much longer for those last few percentage points (e.g., from 95% to 100%).

I hear you. I've played both Partners in Time on the DS and the Superstar Saga on the GBA. They lost my attention. Combat gets especially boring and tedious, though the writing is nice. I ended up quitting Superstar Saga halfway through and Partners in Time just before the run up to the last boss. No interest in going back. I think I know how they will end. Good effort, though, nintendo. Grinding is incredibly aversive in these games.

you've got yourself a tough choice to make.  all three are from outstanding studios.  disgaea 2 for ps2 is fantastic, insanely deep, and absurdly funny.  a 100+ hour game.  i wouldn't expect less from a psp offering from them.  level 5's work is great.  i was thinking of picking up a psp just for jeanne d'arc (only have a ds).  then you have the squareenix game.  ffta was okay, though by now i'm tiring of ivalice. plus the story was rather thin, when compared to fft.  to tell you the truth, i'd pick up all three when you have the opportunity.  they're probably some of the best srpg's to ever come across the system.

That's probably my biggest disappointment as well.  Paper mario and breath of fire are nice on the VC, but i'm ready for a straight-up wii rpg.  fire emblem is really more tactical (though i know i'll buy it), tales is more action.  i'm looking forward to something turn-based myself, or something less button-mashy than the tales series (e.g., ffxii is fantastic).  it's hard going from the ps2, which was an rpg-gamer's paradise, to this.  i'm holding out, though.  now that the industry knows the wii sells well (and the ps3 sales have been disappointing), i figure we're maybe a year or two out from some fantastic new games (and hopefully more than a few rpgs in there) if you consider the length of development cycles. it happened with the ds.

The touch screen isn't used at all in this game. well, maybe during one 20-second minigame, but that's it.

come on guys. most of us have owned the gc and ps2, and many own the wii, so we've all seen their respective capabilities. i agree the gc's graphics were not developed to their full extent. the ps2 on the other hand (can we say square-enix cutscenes?) was stretched to the limit. if you're talking in-game rendering, that's less impressive, of course. I think, though, that there are some differences in what the gc is capable of compared to the ps2. the gc 3-d graphics look more polygonal compared to the ps2. i don't know if that's due to the gc's hardware or what, but i prefer the look of the ps2's graphics most of the time. and we've yet to see a real wii game. tp was a gamecube port. either way, it's apples and oranges.
