I think the question on whether the slimline overheats faster depends on where your location is. The slimline DOES overheat. However, this would not be noticeable to those living in more cooler climates than, say, a country near the equator like the Philippines where I'm from.
From what i've heard, over here, the slimline versions always over heat and shut down after 2-4 hours of straight gameplay, unless you have the AC on..Azmod3aN
