@4nationfury @Jarek011 @parrot_of_adun @petsodon I apologize, was a while ago, the study conducted by Michigan's Ross Business School actually concerns Norway, Denmark was an early adopter but Norway was first actually. Either way, a quick search did not result in the study but here is a link to The New York Times that quotes some of its results. The relevant ones: "Using a common market-based measure of corporate governance, known as Tobin’s Q, the study found that companies in Norway actually performed an average of 20 percent worse the year after adopting the quotas"

And: "he Michigan study found that as the boards in Norway grew younger and more inexperienced, performance declined. This occurred despite average annual gains of more than 14 percent in Oslo’s benchmark stock index during the 2001-7 study period."

@parrot_of_adun @Jarek011 I was mostly saying that in the context of gears of war it would make no sense if they did it. Luckily, most studios aren't giving in. But OK, if you want an example, a pretty recent one would be Assassin's Creed: Liberation. Terrible half-assed character leading to a poor story, but hey its a woman! Wow! You should play it! it's so different =/

And the pressure is slowly mounting. Articles like this one, or the ones from IGN showing the difference in sales numbers of games having male vs female protagonists etc. are only making it worse.

Again, I don't care if they start a new series or franchise, but wouldn't want them in established games.

@parrot_of_adun @petsodon Then you should take a look at what happened in Denmark, the pioneer of this forced female quota in boardrooms that this EU directive is based on (The EU one is much more conservative).

Denmark passed a law that required 40% of board members to be female... the results? Short term, negative performance, lower average age, lack of experience, overall ridiculous.

@parrot_of_adun @Jarek011 I don't have a problem with women, I have a problem with developers that are forced into making inferior products because of raging feminist activists that have a problem with there not being enough female protagonists. Most of those people don't even play games, they are just looking for a reason to bitch.

You want to make a new series starring a female protagonist? Go ahead. But don't try to shove it into an existing game world where it makes no sense.

Such bull... Things are getting way out of hand with gender issues or even overall political correctness. Trying to force "gender equality" (In quotes because men and women will never be exactly the same in every way) leads to inferior products.

Take a look at Hollywood, trying to force strong female protagonists leads to extremely biased reviews where apparently the choice to cast a female protagonist is worth more than things like cinematography, story etc. Perfect example: Bridesmaids. One of the worst movies ever made, rated insanely high due to casting women doing what you usually see guys do.

I don't want that shit in my games, and I would be one of those lost sales the article refers to.
