@abHS4L88 @ItchyIsVegeta I am not spending $349 dollars for a next gen system that only plays games by Indie Developers, and Japanese developers who's games have a 50/50 chance history of being released in the US.
It isn't about just spurring sales. It is also about giving developers an incentive to make games for the console. Hardly any 3rd party publishers is making anything for the system.
@fredyellowone I played that when it first came out. There was a few spots where I thought the graphics were amazing. Phantom Forest, is a great example. Definitely enhanced the gameplay, because it is an expression of the art.
Microtransactions is a great idea for Halo 4, because the game is already a complete $60 experience where people could now get even more content and enjoyment out of it.
Microtransactions are also a great idea, when you can release a game that is smaller, with a smaller price tag, adding small fees to suit each player's style so they feel they are only buying and spending money on the content they want.
The downfall and darkside of Microtransactions will be when we get a $60 game that feels incomplete, and they fill that completeness with microtransactions as a way to sucker money out of us. These type of games, we need to boycott.
If they were serious about blocking used game sales, they would have an ebay like store built in to the console, for digital content, where someone who has purchased it, could resell it for what he wants. This way, the console maker, and game developer could get a cut of that transaction, and the buyers of digital items would feel as though they actually own that software.
"No console has ever required an Internet connection to function".... but every console has been required to be purchased then taken out of the box to function. Keep making stupid design decisions, and lets see how many people won't purchase it.
