A boycott? You mean like the famous modern warfare 2 boycott?

lmao I think Pachter has spent a little too much time talking to gamers.

Boycotts are nothing. Was there a single materially meaningful boycott by end consumers in the last decade? 5 decades?

"Our reaction was clear: if this was going to be the last Fire Emblem, we had to put [in] everything we always wanted to include."

Shouldn't this be the case regardless of whether the game is going to be the last in the series or not?

Maybe the mentality of... hey, this is a good idea, but let's save it for the next sequel... is why series sales decline.

80% of the production team of defiance? Kinda high, but at least within the realm of possibility. There are always staff cuts after an MMO launches, because you don't need as many people to maintain and update it as you do when first pushing it out the door.

And unlike traditional games, it takes a little bit longer for sales revenue to roll in. Unless you're really big, really successful, and have your product pipeline moving smooth as butter, some ramp up/ramp down is normal.

TBH I was totally surprised they actually managed to pull off a timely defiance launch that was in sync with the TV series. Given that, I wouldn't be surprised if it took extra staffing (than normal for MMO) during production to make it happen.

80% of of the entirety of trion worlds? Nah don't see that happening.

"Does Child’s Play charge administrative fees?

We try our best to have every dollar that comes in go right back to the hospitals, but there is a slight administrative cost that does get paid for with donations (for example, shipping thousands of consoles and games to hospitals worldwide is not free, sadly). Historically, these charges have not exceeded 6%. It’s true that we’re a non-profit, but unlike most non-profits, we’re not in it to create a self-sustainable entity. We do it to give."

Obviously not the same as a third-party audit, but child's play does have a history. Go look it up.

A little cynicism can be healthy. But being cynical and uninformed at the same time just makes you an asshole.
