Thanks for that but my sucky laptop overheats too easily for prolonged gaming sessions. I really think a US console is the way forward.

I recently made a rather costly mistake of buying some factory sealed NTSC Playstation games on eBay (Chrono Cross and Legend of Dragoon for the record). I read a rather detailed article online explaining that region lock out had little to do with your console but more to do with the video format of each region. It went on to explain that since HDMI is a universal format that I could play NTSC Playstation games on my PAL PS3 so long as I used an HDMI cable. Long story short, I'm £80 poorer and now have 2 games that I can't even play or sell on for a decent price since they're opened now and was wondering if anyone knows a site where I could buy an NTSC US Playstation or Playstation 2 Console. I've tried eBay with no luck and I'm something of of a NOOB when it comes to online shopping so I don't know where else to look. THX.

I have lost my posts on at least 4 different forums (Blue Dragon, Rock Band, Fable II and Gears of War 2). Can anyone explain how and why this is happening as I find it quite irritating. In particular the Fable II and Gears 2 posts vanished less than a week after posting!

It's not that I need to play more games. I've got few ties and a relatively disposable income so I play pretty much every major release. I just think playing certain stunning games so early in a consoles lifespan has left me a little disillusioned regarding their future. Plus the topic was lifted from an issue of EDGE who probably made a far better argument than I could, try and check out their article on 360 peaking prematurely if you get the chance.

This has probably been discussed before but I'm new so I apologise if I'm retreading old ground. Does anyone think that the current gen of consoles have already peaked? I can't speak for PS3 I've never played one but I think both Wii and 360 have reached their peak. Within it's first year or so the Wii had all its best games Galaxy, Prime 3, Twilight Princess and Mario Kart I can see very few games on the horizon that can touch any of those titles. As for 360 I think that peaked ages ago with Gears. I've enjoyed no game on 360 as much as Gears with the exception of perhaps GTAIV. Hopefully the run of quality looking titles due by Christmas will prove me wrong.

Does anyone else out there have problems with one chance achievements? I find them to be a nuisance. What's more they tend to be associated with RPGs which are generally my favourite games. If you know they're coming it's fine but I don't usually check achievement lists until I finish a game at least once to avoid spoilers. I thus had no idea about things like the Mania/Dementia achievements in The Shivering Isles. As much as I love Oblivion (I gave 150+ hours of my life to it!) I have little intention of starting the game over again just to get that one last acheivement for choosing the other path in The Shivering Isles. The worst offender is Blue Dragon with every button bashing mini game linked to an achievement. Without checking the list or reading the strategy guide (I always play RPGs for a second time using a guide book) you'd have no idea that winning these mini games equalled gamer points. I love acheivements and think they're a really good reason to keep playing games I just don't think you should be FORCED to start a game again just get achievments, you should always be able to have another try at something.
