I currently have a Northwood Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz (WITHOUT Hyper Threading) socket 478

I found an OEM Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz (WITH Hyper Threading) socket 478 that I am interested in.

My question is does it matter if it's an OEM or not?? Also, does it have to be a Northwood model?? I looked in the manual for my motherboard and it said Wilamette is not supported, but I just wanted to make absolutely sure. One last question, if it says socket 478, that's it right?? There's nothing else I have to look into to make sure it'll be compatible??

Thanks!!

I recently got a new computer (used, but new to me) and I replaced the old HDD it had with mine. Whenever I start up the computer the second the Windows XP loading screen pops up there's a quick flash of the blue screen of death and then the computer restarts again. I'm assuming this is because my HDD doesn't recognize the new MOBO. How do I get my HDD and new motherboard working together??

Thanx for all the quick help guys. I really appreciate it. I have a partition on my HDD that I want to remove (or just expand my primary partition) and hopefully one of these will do the trick.

I just tried Disk Director and it was easy to use and just about to expand my C: partition until...it said it was just a demo and I needed to buy it!! I'm not paying $50 for something I'll only use once to do something that will take a few minutes. Does anyone know of a FREE program??

Probably need a program like Disk Director. Why you would want just one partition though is beyond me :?X360PS3AMD05

Because whenever I install a game on E: and try to play it, I get some sort of error message. Then, when I install it on C: there's no problem.
