Sony Vaio PCV-RS720G

Windows XP SP3

2 Gigs of Ram

P4w/HT 3.2Ghz

Nvidia 7900GS

The External HDD isaWestern Digital Element 1TB 3.5" Black External Hard Drive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136321

It was fine at first. I plugged it in and formatted it and it hada driver letter of E:/

After it was done formatting to NTFS I called it a night. I had to unplug it which I did by doing the Safely Remove Hardware. Then, today I go to use it and it doesn't show up under Hard Drives in My Computer. It does show up under Disc Drivers in Device Manager though. So, how do I fix this?? And no, it's not a dead drive or a bad connection. The light's on and I can hear it spinning and everything.

*Last thing. Whenever I boot up my computer with the drive plugged in, it can't get past the Vaio screen while booting up, it just freezes. I need to eventually be able to boot up my computer with the External HDD. Anyway to get this fixed too??*

Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Does it work the same way as a wireless network adapter card for PCs?? I have one on my computer and that's how I get internet access. (Picking up someone's router's signal). I just want to know before I spend some good dough on one. Thanx.

I just installed a new motherboard. All of the cables and everything are plugged in where they are supposed to go and everything, but when I go to start the computer there's just a blank screen. My monitor light goes from green to orange within seconds of turning it on. The fans are going and everything also so I know it's on and running. What's the problem??

The first one was great fun and it's good to see that the second one might be on its way to the PC. However, I will only get it if it's uncensored.

I am not looking to play burned/pirated games, just movies, as a previous poster suggested.

Initially, my processor had only a heatsink w/o a fan. I recently bought and installed a fan (attached to the case and right above the heatsink). I want to know whether I should have it blow on the heatsink or have it blow out of the case through the vent. What are your suggestions??

Also, I'm assuming that if I can feel air coming out of the vent then the fan is blowing the air out and if I can't feel anything it's blowing it in; that's what common sense is telling my anyway, just want to make sure though.

[QUOTE="HotScully"]Do you have Vista?? If so, that could be the problem right there. WHen I had XP I was able to play all my games at medium/high settings with no lag. Then, I got Vista and it all went downhill.n00bkid
I do have Vista :'( i hope thats not the problem...and is there anyway to downgrade back to XP?

You mean UPGRADE to XP. Well, you could either format your hard drive and then install XP or you could create a partition and install XP on that. There will also be people telling you that Vista isn't the problem and that it's great, blah blah blah, but that's all nonsense. As I said, when I had XP all of my games, even newe ones like Dead Space and Far Cry ran perfectly on med/high settings, then I "upgraded" to The Vista Virus and now they suddenly run with incredible lag to the point where the game is unplayable. You do the math.
