I don't know what other articles you read that may have spoiled things for you, but from most articles I have read Gamespot gives you a warning before any spoilers.

@gamingdevil800: Some of the games do go hand in hand, but also are singular experiences. DQIV, V, and VI are all connected, but can be played separately as well. Look it up.

Amazon most likely made this happen for the free publicity. Program it to happen on such and such a date, or backdoor it to happen through the internet. Free publicity!
