@7tizz: "The thing that mostly holds some consumers back is the price."

Not just price, at least for me.. it's the data sizes that tend to hold me back with regards to digital. I only go for small indie games 4GB and under because my ISP is horrible and the only way to rectify that at the moment would be to move into the city which is not going to be happening anytime soon.

With increasing game data at close to or exceeding 100GB and my household being stuck with a "6mbps" connection at the best of times... well you can just imagine how long that would all take and that is time I'd rather spend gaming which would be a helluva lot easier to do by just going to a store or ordering a physical copy from amazon.

I realize this is not your problem but consider how many of your fellow gamers would suddenly be alienated from future gaming generations because of this trajectory.

"You burn through the campaign in a weekend and then you guys go to the multiplayer."

No usually i rarely touch multiplayer, I either replay the campaign IF IT'S GOOD in harder difficulties, soak up extras/collectibles/side stuff and move on to something else, keep the game if it's really good and revisit it in the future like any movie that i would tend to rewatch.

A game like L.A. Noire for example, there's literally nothing else to do when you've finished it but man I'll just pop that one in for the atmosphere and 40s era detail! Just cruising around listening to oldies and absorbing that ambiance. What happened to just spending time with art like that? people just want to rush through everything and jump in to the next deathmatch? BORING! but i realize everyone's different.
