I literally JUST beat the game, again, to perfect my Shepard's story, in preparation for the Extended Cut. Honestly, at this point, all the anger and such has just faded away, and as time goes on, I find myself more and more accepting of the ending. So, to wake up and see this news, well, I'm just happy.
You can't imagine how bummed out I am about this. Yes, I acknowledge that it's better to take time to polish up your product. Still... I've been counting the days. I, like many, just hate waiting.
There's no reason to even consider changing the ending. You know what would work for me? Just explain the ending. Clear the air, confirm the Indoctrination Theory, and I'm good. Honestly, even if the Indoctrination Theory wasn't how they envisioned it, based on the general response, I think confirming it would have been an immensely smarter play than re-writing the ending. If the Indoctrination Theory were proven true, that would at least be something. It wouldn't necessarily make up for our first emotional response to the ending, but at least we could be like, "Okay, well, even if it wasn't set up properly, at least it makes some sense."
I'll tell you who wins - the people who didn't play the other games and don't understand the gravity of an inconclusive ending to a (superb) trilogy (the first time around).
I love love the music of the Mass Effect series. It's fitting and yet it remains wonderfully original. Oh, and yes, I totally said love love. I double love... No typos here.
