I would have to say looking at many video game websites and their reviews and what people think of them. But what got me the most was when FFX was comin out, i have never seen so much hype for a RPG ever. So i started with 8 (couldn't find 7) and i loved it. Just got FFX and i wish i bought a PS2 instead of a damn gamecube so i could get FFX sooner....
I think that remaking FFVII will give players who missed out last time on the PS1 to try again with MUCH better graphics.....at the price of the PS3($700)...and the game itself ($100)....

i think it's the feel you get when you are walking around then suddenly you stop, the screen does a awesome animation, the "kicking ass" music starts and you bring out a huge creature like "Ifrit" out and really kick some ass!! that's my theory......and yea the story does well too.
