I have an idea, how about game designers start making games that are emotionally engaging and moving. I know this medium is still in its diapers, and we are getting there, a few have stepped in the right direction. But seriously, video gaming is the most underestimated and underutilized medium of entertainment out there. It frustrates me, but at the same time it excites me because I think I'll be alive to see games become at least part as awesome as they can be.

So just because the real life counterparts of soldiers depicted in WWII shooters died 50+ years ago those are ok for you to play? They didn't die recently so it doesn't hit home for you? And these modern shooters do because America is fighting wars at the moment? A game is a game. A virtual world where players can come together and cooperate and compete and have fun. People want this virtual world to mimic our own because modern technology is cool. These games are not berating veterans or presenting American soldiers in undignified ways. The American soldier avatars are archetypes so we have bearing in a virtual world. I don't need to think about the tragedy of real war when playing a game, and I certainly don't need you telling me I should. You're right, logic doesn't support your argument, most people take that as a sign not to make it. But then, I guess I don't have to read this. Then again, people don't have to post misinformed, melodramatic, opinionated garbage like this on the internet either.
