@zmanbarzel: Disney claim there was no commitment in the contract to not releasing concurrently online and that the contract only called for a release in a minimum of 1,500 domestic theatres. They released in 9,000.
@Mogan: I don't see them having Obsidian make another spin-off, I could easily see another company having a crack at it though. Mind, it won't be New Vegas 2, but some other region. The LA Boneyard perhaps.
