And they care why? Used games don't contribute funds to support game development. I don't understand how this is a problem. Steam has been doing it for years and it works perfectly. If your friend wants to try it out then they can come over or you can lend them your account. Are we beyond the days where people actually physically hang out face-to-face with one another?
@Miltonelite Used gamers don't matter to MS, Sony, Nintendo, etc. They don't care about them and why should they? They contribute nothing to these companies. They're only supporting Gamestop or wherever they bought their product second hand.
@Sevenizz Are you a dumbass? Rhetorical question. The recession has been over for years. People just still feel the effect of it. No need to insult a country with something you obviously no nothing about.
Perhaps the blu-ray functionality had something to do with it as Sony is on the Board which oversees the tech. Other than that it's hard to see a reason how this directly affected Sony's ticker. Something else could have.
@Serpentes420 I think MS could still serve a rental market, but they would control it. Maybe pay a couple bucks a day to rent a game and you just get it off Xbox Live. I could totally see that.
@Frisky_Flamingo I feel like the RRoD is somewhat inconsequential because MS handled it extremely well with free repairs /w free shipping and materials. Some features the PS3 had were certainly nice however, as you stated with the wifi and bluray.
@theeverydaygame I feel like MS is a reasonable company and will find a way for people to play without ALWAYS being online. I'm sure it will require you to be online at some point to verify purchase, but I think MS is too smart a company to require owners to be online 100% of the time.
Why not do as Steam did and have an offline mode? Verify you own it with the internet, if need be, then allow it to be played whenever with the device. Although then you have the issue of people who can never connect their console to the internet to begin with.
