Yeah, I imported it when it first released, and put in about 90 hours of gameplay in the first couple of weeks of owning it. I agree, it does probably offer the best online experience, though I think Worms: Open Warfare 2 comes close to its quality. However, that's only if you're playing friends who have decent connections within your region. Most random brawls lag pretty bad, since the majority of players are in Japan. Still, it's one of the best games to ever come to the DS, and probably one of the biggest expressions of Japan sticking its middle finger up at the western world and saying, "Ha, ha! We've got one of the best games you'll never play!"

Will this be coming to the US ?Wiz007

I hope to God it does. I think it will, too. I think with Square's success in the States with their DS RPG offerings, Nintendo has to know that this game is something the U.S. market wants. And if they don't bring it over, I will assassinate Mario...and Kirby too, for good measure.

... is it that bad or 1up is such an ass?plaxz2007

It's probably something right in the middle. 1Up tends to be pretty harsh on anything that's not a traditional Mario platformer, or anything that's not an uber-violent FPS. That said, I wouldn't say Dungeon Explorer is great, either. I haven't played through the entire game yet, but what I have played has been pretty cool. At this point in time, it's pretty old-school. If you've played the first Diablo game and enjoyed it, chances are you'll also enjoy Dungeon Explorer for the DS. As a hack & slash on the go, I'd say it's got a lot going for it. I'll know more, though, later, once I play through more of the game.

This is the best game I have ever played for the DS so far....

douglaz999

You're damn right it is!

Yeah, I've played the demo over 50 times, and it just keeps getting better. Keep in mind, though, that the demo is only a taste. Only a few moves are unlocked and you're literally only playing within two tiny environments. That said, you can find a lot of moves and combos not mentioned in the demo's tutorial, which should hint at what we can expect with the final product. And if you've been keeping up with the media related to the game, you can see Dragon Sword has come a long, long way. I don't expect it to exude challenge the way a console NG game does, but I think, with the DS in mind, it's going to blow people away, all the same.

Personally, I'm surprised we haven't seen an MGS game on the DS yet. Out of all the stuff Konami chooses to publish on the DS, I can't, for the life of me, understand why we haven't seen Snake on the DS. And Metal Gear has seen Nintendo systems -- NES, GBA and the Cube -- Snake's presence in Brawl isn't totally unfounded. But what have they done for us lately? Nada.

Yeah, MGS does need to be on the DS, but -- hey -- those dudes overseas have their own way of doing things. American developer / publishers -- everything's done for the almighty dollar. In Japan, I think they do things sometimes just to piss people off. I don't know, but DS Snake would be nice.

If I had to guess -- and, again, this is nothing more than a guess -- I'd say that it's Gamespot covering their posterior. It's likely nothing to do with an embargo, but if they know they're going to score it low yet Ubisoft will be advertising it on their site, they probably hold off on publishing the review for a few days. Since most games do the bulk of their sales in their first week of release, it guarantees the game clear sailing before the review hits. This way, Gamespot can give the review they want while still not pissing off the advertisers. Mere speculation on my part, but not unfounded, considering the nature of this industry.

I was a little more generous in my review of the game, but I think GS' review is also fair. I just happen to be one of those folks who enjoys the niche genre that Altair's Chronicles falls into. That said, I haven't played the console game and can't compare AC to it. As a stealth / action game, AC is a loser. The mini games it throws in the mix are completely uninspired. But as a Prince of Persia-esque platformer, the game has a lot going for it. In the end, though, it's just very rough around the edges. I enjoyed it -- twice -- but I don't highly recommend it, unless you can find it cheap.

You need to go back and speak to that dude again inside the castle. Do the next challenge and it will unlock the gate.

[QUOTE="TrueReligion_"]I don't know why anyone would want to play an FPS with a handheld. dsownge

Its not just a handheld its a handheld with great controls for FPS

QFT

Agreed. The DS -- strictly from an interface standpoint -- offers the closest thing to playing PC-style. Of course, the Wii seems to be changing all that, but still...the DS does an amazing job with handling FPSes.
