My comp is about 3 years old. AMD athlon 3500, Nvidia 6800 GT 256 MB, 1 GB of ram, running windows XP.
I figured it was something with heating, but couldn't figure out why a game like Oblivion on high graphics would never cause this problem.
After several hours of playing "one more turn" of Civ 4, my pc locks up and the monitor displays a grainy patchwork of colors. I read that blowing out your computer with compressed air would fix the problem. After cleaning out my computer, the game would run all night. However, after a few weeks the problem came back and after a few hours the game would lock up. Again, blowing out the computer with compressed air solved the problem.
Here's my question: Why is Civ 4 the only game this happens to? Any other new game I can play for hours with no problems, but Civ requires me to clean my pc. What is going on?
Ceasar 2 - when you ran low on peasants, plebians, the game would declare "MORE PLEBS ARE NEEDED" about every 30 seconds until the problem was fixed.
Blade & Sword - a cheap diablo 2 rip off. Bored the hell out of me in 20 minutes.
I wish I could be one of the people who say that Battlefield 2 is the worst game they ever played. It's like saying Scarface is the worst movie you ever saw, lucky you! There were so many broken and frustrating games in the late 90's and early 00's to choose from that you should count your lucky stars that a modern, fun, and pretty popular game is the worst you ever played.
