Now who made you one of the best Playstation fans! Thats really bad but lets be honest, who plays ps2 games when you have a PS3avataraang1

I deemed myself one of the biggest Playstation fans when i convinced 2 prospective 360 buyers to go Ps3 :D. And while I do have 26 Ps3 games now, theres no way I could forsake Shadow of the Collosus, The Kingdom Hearts games (including the GBA remake one coming out December 2nd), My favorite RPGs ever Persona 3 and Final Fantasy X, and the upcoming Persona 4. Plus the God of Wars, the Xeno series...the list goes on and on.

 Today, since my Best Buy warranty was still good, I tried going there to get the 80GB...totally forgetting that the backwards compatible 80GB is no longer available.  Now Best Buy would have given me the $200 difference, but i really couldnt go back to buying a new ps2 and having to buy memory cards and controllers for it again (also as some of you know, using composite ps2 cables on an HDTV looks pretty bad and not many games support progressive scan for component cables)..not to mention best buy wanted to keep my hard drive and i have alot of saves on there i dont want to do again.

 Basically, upon weighing my options. I had to end up paying sony 150 for the fix...since otherwise id have to buy a new ps2, 2 memory cards, and a replacement for Resistance 2 (which sony will replace for free). Its really heartbreaking since I'm one of the biggest Ps3 fans. Anyway, thanks for listening and enjoy the gaming goodness this holiday season :)

 Also, hopefully ill be back in a couple weeks. I wanna have a bunch of requests when im back in business so feel free to add me.

i advise, u also get it for your hdtv and ps3.

I thought it was a power outtage but its actually a rare hardware failure. Seems one of the fans stopped working.

Sorry to hear that.  I had an extremely good experience owning my PS2... still going strong after 7 years.  I'm hoping I get a similar run out of my PS3 and somehow avoid the rare stories like yours.

Do you really play PS2 games enough still to merit the $150 cost, though?  Or was it simply the principle of losing functionality?

Yeah im a big RPG guy and alot of my favorite RPGs are on the Ps2, and i still like to go back to all the old Final Fantasies. And i still have roughly 40-50 PS2 games. If the original 80GB model was still out there, I'd be playing Ps3 right now since every game i have is backwards compatible on that system.

Hate is a strong word, but there are things that bother me. I never understood why everything has a fee attached to it. I like the ninja gaiden gamerpics but I am not spending 2 dollars for jpeg thumbnails. Not because of being cheap or anything, just principle. And even if i did decide to cave, i couldnt just pay for that. I'd have to drop more money on the lowest point card value.

Also, I think the whole demo exclusivity to gold members for the first week is a bit unneccessary. I wanted to download the Force Unleashed while playing a game but I couldnt, yet I switched to the ps3 and could download it the same way no problem. Lastly, on a smaller note, the ads on the dashboard kind of bother me. Bad enough for all the microtransactions, but to have ads too? Just a little compromise would be nice.

Not necessarily a fanboy, but I'll usually take inflections and variety over identical male voices, squeaky female voices, and broken grammar any day. Some dubs are pretty awful though so I can see both sides (Love Hina dub uggh).

But for the demo, I love the look but the circle button doing a 10 hit combo automatically feels a bit off. And some matches go by way to fast. I played 2 matches in just under 5 minutes.

You were able to pull the whole combo? where you playing against someone really bad or the PC? Because, my pal and I havent been able to pull a full one unless we have no chakra. You do know that you can use substitution do automatically dodge right? Also, learning to use it gives you an edge, even with the partner system. Which at first we thought it was cheap, especially Naruto since he has 2, but in the end, I won more times playing as Kakashi. My tip, learn sustitution and the partner system will only be useable as either a shield (what we ended up using them for) or bait to cancel the other partners. Sometimes it may help cancelling a combo, but if you know how to use substitution, you can easily dodge it and either grab the opponent or launch an especial move (Chidori or Rasengan in the demo)

I played against the PC only since no one's around to play against. I just like the Ultimate Ninja control scheme better since I had a bit more control over different attacks, as opposed to mash circle to do a super long combo. With the old control scheme, fights were alot longer even on single player. The game comes out in October though so they have enough time to maybe tweak the AI. For now though it was just too simple and the matches were too quick for single players.

@Fullmetal Alchemist dude: I can see both sides too man. No worries there. I happen to go with whatever sounds better for the anime to me. Like Fullmetal Alchemist sounded upright better English. Death Note though.... "I'll take a potato chip....AND EAT IT" is lol-tastic. XDSymphonycometh
