I am not a fan at all. If you purchase a game you should be able to play it when you want - whether you have internet connectivity or not.

I refuse to look at the trailers or play the demo. Franchises I'm pretty loyal to or excited about (LIKE RE) I try not to see any spoilers. If it is rated pretty well by critics (cumulatively 80+), I'll pick it up for sure, with the hope that it is a direct descendant of RE 4, which was AWESOME.

Honestly, I'd start with the new one. I love Zelda, but there isn't a huge amount of variety between the console games. Each one is great on its own, but you do get a bit of overlap in creatures and places. Starting with the new one will keep EVERYTHING fresh and brand new for you. Then go back and hit previous Zeldas.

@The_Last_Ride: I disagree that all previous generations had to wait a long while for great games (console sellers). I don't believe any generation has been this awful. I have a PS4 and Xbox1 and I use them both a lot more for Netflix and Hulu than gaming. Each has a game or two (over a full year) that I would say is worth having the system for. In past generations i feel like the consoles usually had a handful of games across all the systems that made that gen pleasurable. As far as I'm concerned, next-gen could have started Dec 2014. It's unbelievable that I'm saying this (if sales were any indication), but thank goodness for the Wii U. That's the only current gen system that has 10+ very good games.

Even if the gamers are patient, I think the developers are really focusing on the money-grab, which extends development time because they are planning out season passes and dlc instead of just making and finishing a good game and then moving on to the next one. Consider how much time and resources it takes to create and support dlc and such, rather than just finishing a game and moving on to creation of the next one. They don't want to just put out good games that make money, they want to put out games that make money, and make money, and make money (i.e. dlc and season passes and micro transactions). Greed, plain and simple.

I have been gaming for over 30 years, and I really do remember fondly when "dlc" was just hidden on the game you purchased and you just had to work for it... or find a code... or buy a guide...

Sure games cost more to make now, and they charge us more for them now. If they need to go up to $70, fine, but include the complete game and quit nickel and diming the gamers to death.

Bioshock. Possibly the best game I've ever played. When you try to drag a game out so you don't get to the end, you know its great.

Nintendo would sell well if it wouldn't shoot itself in the foot by going insane periods of time without offering aaa titles. If Nintendo would drop new hardware along with 2 aaa titles at launch, it could get some good momentum. After that, drop a aaa title every 2 to 3 months. Sales would be great again. Next console... don't drop unless you have 3 aaa titles launching at the same time. Then trickle the other out. For example... next launch:

At launch - console + mario 3d world 2 + pikmin

3 months later - donkey kong + zelda

3 months later - toad + yoshi

3 months later - kirby + mario kart

3 months later - star fox + paper mario

3 months later - mario + metroid

... and on an on (obviously, the order of the titles don't matter as much as it being a aaa franchise). There is probably 2+ years before the next nintendo console drops. If they followed a plan where people could depend on regular aaa additions, I think Nintendo would sell a lot more consoles. Having a console and waiting for games is the pits. I own a PS4 and Xbox One, as well; they have ALL dropped this ball this generation.

The wii u has a heck of a lot more good games exclusive to it than the ps4 and xbox have good games at all right now. I use my ps4 and xbox more for netflix and hulu than gaming. Super mario 3d world, donkey kong trop freeze, bayonetta 2, mario kart. The Last of Us and Forza are about all I can muster up as great right now for ps4 and xbox. And believe me, I'm looking forward to some great games on PS4 and Xbox; this nextgen launch has been brutal!
