Only High School history teachers  I give High School history teachers who have been teaching the subject for years far more credit then someone who's been taking a political philosophy course for 8 weeks. Did Herbert Hoover create social security? Did he use his power to help end the banking crisis, create a plethora of new agencies, create jobs or provide welfare? Herbert Hoover clearly saw a difference in their policies, and even went as far to say that what Roosevelt was doing would create a "tyranny", but apparently you, o great wise one, who has been taking a political philosophy course for 8 weeks (or perhaps you're joking?) could go up to Hoover himself and convince him that their policies were similar, or, like you said "exactly the same"?That's funny, at this very second I am doing a report on this. FDR and Herbert Hoover had identical policies. The only difference is that FDR had political skills. Also, Hoover was probablythe second most liberal economist we have had for president.
FDR's policies didn't get us out of the depression bud. FDR's policies made the depression last much longer. We would have been out of it much quicker without it. If you really want to debate it, bring it on. I have spent the last 8 weeks in political philosophy studying it.
The only people that will tell you that FDR got us out of the depression are high school history teachers.

Though, Roosevelt clearly was flexible in his policies, and I would not go so far as to call the man a "huge liberal". Later on the depression would partially return under Roosevelt's belt, but he was light years ahead of Hoover.
I don't want to mindlessly argue. If I am indeed hugely wrong, I would like you to educate me, so fire away and tell me how all of my perceptions of Hoovers' and Roosevelts' careers are completely wrong.
