[QUOTE="DealRogers"]

Hello. I just recently went to the Nvidia control panel and turned the bar to prefer performance over quality (where the Nvidia 3D symbol is). Since I did that, all of my games go over 60 FPS and had horrible screen tearing (I have my PC with a 60hz TV) even with the Vsync on (in game), so I went to the control panel again and, game by game, forced the vsync and also added triple buffering. Now I believe from my eyes that the games look a bit smoother, but I haven't done any test with Fraps or MSI.

My big question is, which way is better: turn quality over performance in the control panel and have the vsync on in game? or turn performance over quality and force the vsync from the control panel? I ask this because some people say that the vsync from the control panel uses more resources...

Thanks and sorry for my bad English.

It depends on the type of game. In competitive FPS games, like Battlefield 3, do not use VSync, and especially not triple buffering. This will put characters on screen several frames behind where they actually are. So, when you see someone, you're actually seeing where they were a few frames back, which greatly affects aiming accuracy.. Instead, to get rid of screen tearing, increase your settings to a point where your framerate stays just below 60Hz (60fps). If you're getting screen tearing, increase settings, and even force Super Sampling AA in the control panel if you have to, in order to keep the framerate just below 60fps.. In most other types of games, using VSync is perfectly fine. Also, always force high quality texture filtering in your nVidia control panel. Otherwise, I notice a shimmering like distortion on moving textures at an angle...

But I think I got srcreen tearing with Crysis 3, which maxed out got like 30fps; or it was another setting that was causing this? Also, back to the original question, vsync from in game or control panel? Is there any difference at all? Thanks for your response by the way.

Edit: Also... forcing high quality texture filtering takes extra resources? Because I turned that to high performance instead (only with Crysis 3 and Metro LL)

Hello all. As the title says, I'm having this issue. I only want to know if you think this is a game bug or something could be wrong with my GPU drivers? You think that with a simple update of either one this will go away? I'm kind of upset, because I bought this game for the eye candy exclusively...

I still have my FFIX from release. Only one of two PSOne games that I can say that about. Brownie points if you can guess the other one. =PAllicrombie

And if it is, what can I do? Because my mom and brother use celphones which I think have the same 2.4 Ghz frequency, and I turning off the modem is out of the question. I changed the modem channel to 11, so maybe that helps somehow.

Hi. I just recently bought a Logitech wireless combo which loses the signal constantly. I think it may be the interference, because what I do is move either the mouse or keyboard around and they get signal again, but is very annoying. What could I do to get rid of this issue? Also, I plan to get an Xbox wireless controler and receiver, but I fear it may just interfere even more with the mouse and keyboard, making all of it a mess. Is there any other wireless gamepad I could use with no problem? Or will the Xbox one work with no problem?

Logitech wireless devices are often hit and miss.  Lots of 'em lose signal due to poor signal strength.  Complain chez Logitech and ask for another dongle may be the best thing to do here.

So interference is out of the question? I was thinking maybe my router and wireless phones signals would also be part of the problem.
