I'm not really worried about the GBA slot being removed, because I (now) only have 3 games that I don't play anymore, and I can't shake the feeling that Nintendo's gonna put up GBA games on the DSi Shop sometime in the future. But honestly, if they didn't, I wouldn't mind. And postal-1, think of it this way: now you don't have to carry as much stuff in your pocket. :D
