@vadagar1 It sounds like larger ships will be limited. The Bengal Carrier we see in the trailers will be one of the largest available and will only be available to players if they capture one. The military will only have a handful of them at a time and will only produce new ones when they need them (And that will take time, possible months).

Plus you can't just have a single player running about with a larger ship, you'll need a pretty decent sized crew to run it. You can hire NPCs to help, but they wont be as good as players and it'll probably cost a hell of a lot to hire and entire crew of a massive ship.

@blueinheaven @DudleyDawson101 Many people loved those other games and they were received very well.

On top of that there are few space sims around these days, so a lot of people are willing to contribute towards this in order to get their dream game. It's a risk, but at least he has a track record of making good space sims and had already produced a pretty decent demo of the game before even beginning to seek crowd funding.

@TheOnlyConan It's hard to tell how intrusive it'll be, we know there will be a cap to the amount of credits you can buy though.

It could end up that the amount you can buy is insignificant compared to the rate you can earn money, so only players who have a lot of disposable income or who just want to earn as much as possible will bother. I know in GW2 the cash shop isn't intrusive at all, but you can still essentially buy in-game money.

@Dareitus @MAD_AI @soulfulDAGGER What you're thinking of is the private servers which may work more like what you're talking about (Although we don't have enough info on that yet).

The official server will be one single 'galaxy' which will be persistent. Instances will be made seamlessly dropping players into the same areas, allowing something around 100 players in the same instance.

@gufberg @Cloud_imperium I don't think they've said yet if they'll be selling ships after release. All we know is they'll allow people to buy credits, but that will be limited to a certain amount each month.

@SpookyHoobster The devs have said it's unlikely, but at least from the advertisement of the PS4 version a lot of players will become aware of the game.

@y3ivan @shruteshkumar It varies, there's now a lot more guns for $2.50 and $5 since they reduced the cert and SC costs for a lot of them. Plus the revolver is $7, the $20 one is just a gold re-skin that is exactly the same otherwise. You can even put any camo onto the normal one anyway.

On top of that most people just wait for the double/triple station cash days that happen fairly often and the new sales for weapons that are on every day to get them at a faction of that cost.

@BassMan For the casual player that's true, but there's definitely a lot more meaning for actual outfits. Most first person shooters just end after a match and move on, not really accomplishing anything.

In Planetside 2 there's a lot of competition between outfits and empires for holding a continent and its bonus. We've held a continent for weeks before, having huge battles in our last few territories trying to hold on by a thread.

By the time the game comes out on the PS4, they'll have enough continents to implement their continent locking system so that there's more progression on a continent level and you can actually capture and hold a continent. The lattice system and Indar re-design recently has also made bases much more easily defended and gave a real flow to the battle, forcing more huge pushes across the land between bases.

Eventually when they get the new resource system and facility benefits in it'll be great.
