@jyml8582: They must be really stretching that $10m then if they're managing to pay over 270 staff across multiple studios with it, not even accounting for the hollywood cast they've manage to gather for the singleplayer campaign and the various other expenses.
You must know some kind of crazy secret to all this, being in the business and all.
@elheber: I doubt they'd be spending so much of it if that was their plan, they have 270 internal staff across 4 studios, plus a few other studios doing contract work as well as the hollywood cast they've hired.
It's just too early to give any specific dates, although they're set on 2016 for the singleplayer at least.
@spikepigeo: Yep, plus you have to remember a good chunk of those 3 years was building the team to actually make the game. They started off with about 7 people initially, by mid 2013 they still only had around 30 staff. Now they have over 270 plus other contracted studios working on it.
@ILSATS: To be honest in a game like Star Citizen I'd much prefer to start out in a smaller ship and work my way up. The chances of ever encountering a player with a big expensive ship is slim considering how few there will be and how many players will be in the game (Plus there will be a much higher ratio of NPCs to players).
Plus you aren't going to be able to buy ships after release, so there's not much incentive for them to make it a massive grind (Big ships like the Idris will require a group of players to run anyway). Hell, you could organise with a group of players to steal one, they'll be incredibly vulnerable since capital ships stay in game if you log out.
@jyml8582 They have a subscription for a monthly magazine which is there to fund all of these trailers and their shows and is separate from the game for that reason.
Plus it's just an in-engine trailer, it's a good chance to perfect all of that stuff for the final game while adding a bit of background and flavour to the universe.
@arqe I have a feeling it'll be more open ended, rather than CoD/BF style matches it'll probably be more like other planets with bars and stores and maybe black market traders but with the potential for people to start shooting.
