@PayneKiller Perhaps. I think it might still be a bit too soon for a console company to go all-in on cloud gaming--they tend to be a bit behind the technology curve. But I think the next gen after this will certainly be a cloud-focused product, if they are even still IN the console market. I think the next handheld will likely be a really big change for them.

@glassesboy Actually, no. Most do NOT have single player. The majority of the video game market is owned by social games right now, which are completely dependent on constant internet. Certainly there are still people that prefer single player games, myself included, but we are the minority these days. I should know, I worked in the social games industry until just recently.

Also, many companies have done streaming gaming. And most are doing very well with it, thus the huge trend towards it recently. Certainly it didn't work a few years ago though. Stream compression technologies have gone a long way in the last few years. 5MB/s should handle it easily, since streaming HD with h.265 would be somewhere around 1.2MB/s. Possibly less.

@glassesboy Most modern games are already dependent on fast internet. Mobile games dominate, as much as I dislike them; and they largely require a constant internet connection.

Certainly network stability might be problematic, but most networks can handle HD video rather easily at this point. And video transcoding advancements like h.265 should make it even easier. Don't take Youtube for an example of what modern video streaming technology is like--their system is kind of terrible.

A few observations;

- No price quoted

- Specs, but no physical hardware shown

It's possible the "specs" quoted are actually virtual machine specs for a cloud machine, and the PS4 is actually just a cloud gaming service.
