Addendum: Funny how this game is fronted by Nvidia's "Way it's meant to be played" program, but Nvidia gets totally SMOKED by ATI on the Ultra and High end tests. I bet that promo is just what it is; nothing more than a promotional sticker slapped on a product to sell cards.
AMD Athlon64 3200 ECS 755-A2 (revised) mobo 2x512 DDR333 RAM AGP Nvidia 6800gt Runs s**tty with the "auto settings" --no AA, everything on high 'cept physics, world, and terrain on medium. Changing everything to high, but turning Terrain Detail to "Low" did wonders to the framerate. Also, getting a driver for my processor--a first for me-- increased performance. Can't upgrade because I'm on a 754pin-based processor. Any significant upgrade would require starting over on a 934pin mobo w/ PCI-E. Don't have that kinda cash right now.
Um, the headliners weren't real bargains. I'd define a "bargain bin" title as something that's A) out of print and didn't sell well, therefore B) in the "bargain bin" at WalMart or KMart or Fred Meyer etc etc etc. Finally, C) Is price-reduced to $19.99 or lower. 360DOA ? Oblivion PC? 360 Condemed ? Bzzt! Wrong! Gamespot editors must live quite the fabulously well-to-do high life. You guys are gettin outta touch.
