Makes you think about what the guy was missing in his life that drove himself to take it. Mrs. Doubtfire was the best!

I think it has a lot to do with the perception of the frequency of the crimes commited. Murder happens a lot more often than the molestation of a child. While murder obviously isn't "accepted" in our society, the more frequent something happens the less we seem pay attention to it compared to something that doesn't happen often. For example, remember that crazy situation with the American soldier throwing a puppy off a cliff? Yeah, throwing a puppy off a cliff is a terrible thing, but for christ's sake it received such a disproportional amount of attention compared to the soldiers that were dying everyday in combat. I think it's the same with with the pedophile/murder perception. Also, murder is an age-old crime, while adults molesting children is only something that is relatively new. By new, I don't mean it just started happening, I mean that within that past few decades people are coming out and openly discussing it.

It isn't new, it's just new to be forbidden, aristoteles and the old greek had 'scholars' , prebuscent children, some had sex with them, some didn't. It's as old as the world itself.

YES, finally an excuse to try to hook up with my chemistry professor!! But yeah you're right, I was thinking about writing something about the Greek pederasty but didn't think most people would remember it. Again, I feel it's all about perception. On that note compared to murder, take a look at Hammurabi's Code sort of thing; if a noble murdered a peasant, they might only have to pay a small fine. If a peasant hit a noble he would be killed. I don't really know too much about that stuff but it seems like that's how it was.
