Japan lost its edge because developers who originally made games on for PC made their way to consoles, since the hardware is very similar to PC. Before that, when consoles were vastly different than the PC platform. I always considered PC to be western dev dominate and consoles to be Japanese dev dominate. Now that has changed so much, consoles in terms of how the hardware works isn't much different than a medium end PC.
I think Japan needs to adopt some western features, mainly online imo. Its very important these days, many people have a broadband connection and have the ability to play games online. Yet, Japan continues to negate this and stay in the days where console gamers couldn't play online. I think the bottom line is, Japan developers are working as if consoles are still consoles when in fact consoles have became PCs.
I think these guys know the PC market very very well and are playing this card to save low sales. Lets face it, from what we have seen and read this game isn't very good. PC gamers, especially those with good rigs will not spend money on trash like this game. They know this, we know this. The only PC gamers that may have bought it are the ones with hardware not capable of running it in the unoptimized state they'd no boubt release it in.
Console gamers however seem to buy any old garbage, just stick a few tv ads in and hey, you got a no1 selling game. This just doesn't work on PC, we have standards and usually go on what the community says rather than being dazzled by marketing.

This is true, I know I wouldn't of brought the game. I don't ever buy lucas arts games on my PC.
