Amen to that. And nowadays alot of playes are using dark bead in PvP making it difficult to even stay alive as an invader. Going against 2 is hard but when one guy just keeps shooting dark beads its cheap.

Good to see that Im not the only one who thinks like that!

Agreed, most bad reviews must be from guys who want to rip through it quickly and leap out of trees and kill red coats by the hundreds. Im still on sequence 1 and have invested nearly 3 hours!!

Still not used to the controls I guess and revert to old AC buttons, making taking on a fe enemies a bit of a challenge. I love the attention to detail.

Honestly, not everyone is going to love this game but who cares. Its whether you like it or not as you are the one paying the money for it.

New to Assasin's Creed always interested, but never pulled the trigger and purchased one of the games.

Should I buy 1st Assasins Creed before this one?

If you buy revelations, youll get AC1 free. But I think AC2 ws one of the best. Brotherhood was similar to AC2. Playing through AC Revelations now and like it but thats because Im a fan. It does help to know the history otherwise, youll get lost in those "Desmond" cutscenes.

Agreed Yakuza. This is a silly thread. If we boycott original devs then all we will be left with is the COD's and Halo's. Even they get boring after a while.

[QUOTE="MooncalfReviews"]

The type of people interested in games like Dishonored are not the type of people interested in those other games. Borderlands 2, maybe, but not any of the others, especially CoD or Halo. Skyrim came out at the same time as other big name games too, but it still sold tons.

Besides which, why does a game need to sell immediately in order for it to be classed as a financial success? When everyone realises what shallow crap the other games are, the'll go and buy this.

+1, especially the first part. Speaking as one of the aforementioned type of people that are interested in games like Dishonored, I can honestly say that the only reason I even knew that new CoD and Halo games were coming out is because its basically up there with death and taxes at this point on the list of inevitable things.

Agree as well. Look at Demons Souls and Dark Souls. Games with a very Niche market. They took time to build momentum and Demons Souls to this day, 4 years later, is still selling strong and being played vigorously. As is dark souls. It seems to be companies like Treyarch that want to produce bulk order games for the masses. I find Arkane quite refreshing in that even though it might not sell billions, they still want to make a unique experience.

Sorry I disagree. Im getting Dishonored for the fantastic single player experience. There isnt many if any around like this. Yes Black Ops 2 is coming out and Im getting it too. However, Im getting that purely for the brainless online play. The single player campaign in that game is non existent.

So despite many games coming out at the same time, they all seem to cater to different Genres.

Demon's Souls is incredibly difficult until you get the feel of your character. Once you know what you're capable of and get down the timing, it really becomes a matter of "How patient are you?" as the game isn't too horrifyingly difficult as people make it out to be. Interestingly enough, you don't have to level up to beat the game. Sure, it helps, but you don't have to.

Dragon Age, on the other hand, is a very classic RPG. You're not going to win or get anywhere without leveling, on the harder settings. You're going to have to grind, experiment, and build characters with particular focuses on the battlefield in order to power your way through a fight. Boss fights are, again, classic RPG-like as you can go toe to toe with a dragon and so long as your HP is high enough, you can kill it and shrug off a dragon clawing you in the face. The gameplay becomes strategic and it matters where you put characters on the battlefield, but I built a tank character and just had the AI do their own thing and beat it with little problem. It isn't turn based strategy, exactly, as enemies won't pause and wait for you to hit them, and you can freely move around whenever you please. But there are cool down times for powers, and the game checks you stats against an opponent to see if you hit them, and things like that.

My thoughts:

Dragon Age = Better story, better characters

Demon's Souls = Better combat, better atmosphere, better enemy design

I would pick Demon's Souls

My sentiments too. I have played both games and although both are classified as RPG's, to compare them is not rightly fair. They both might be RPG's in a sense but game mechanics etc. I liked both games but in Dragon Age, if I wanted to, I could simply go nuts and slaughter things without even trying, making me get bored of the game after a while. Have only started Demon Souls but have already experienced the fact that if you go nuts, you die quickly. Having to think about what your doing, taking your time and not barreling through every door like a SWAT team should not be called difficult, it makes the game demand respect. And these things are what make up for the short story line etc. If you want glitz etc, Get Dragon Age. If you want a challenge that will frustrate the living hell out of you at times but reward your efforts, get Demon Souls

I too have seen many mixed comments about this game. Thought about it for ages and finally got it. Was a little surprised as thought the graphics quite grainy when all the reviews raved about them. Music is so so but suits it well. Many people speak of it being hard. Yes it is, if you wanna run into every room and just slash, which I did for a laugh at first and then realised the importance of stamina. I actually find having to think about who/what I'm fighting one of the great attractions. Targeting can be a real pain and I have died a few times as I couldn't seem to target on the actual monster I was trying to kill. I played a soldier and made it all the way and killed Phalanx without even dying. Mind you, I didnt take on the red eyed knight as he is even harder than the boss!! People here are right. This game isnt for everyone and it gave me the utter **** at the start. Mind you, I am now intrigued and find myself wanting to play it. I bought this and Uncharted 2 at the same time and so far Uncharted has only had one play and DS has had ten.
