Bloom: Why is it when I'm in the desert I can't look out of a tanks targetting reticle without being blinded or having a very hard time seeing anything?

I think its to balance, giving you a unlimited view would make a tank OP.

redsoull
How so? The tank already suffers from lack of use due to the abundance of explosive devices that take it out rather easily. Sure the lack of jets does make the tank a little more viable but blinding the driver/gunner does not help balance something that tends to see back at the base empty....

Hello everyone,

I've been playing BC2 again recently and I kept getting an odd feeling that the game was alright but not as good as it could have been. I mean, I played every BF game from 1942, Vietnam, 2, and 2142 and love every single one of them but when I play BC2 I do have fun but I also feel as if I should be pissed off for some reason. After thinking about it, I have come to some conclusions as to why I feel this way and was wondering if anyone else shared these gripes in regards to BC2.

Good:

Stable community

Interesting Perks/Upgrades

Decent destructability

Alright campaign (For a BF game)

Bad:

Bloom: Why is it when I'm in the desert I can't look out of a tanks targetting reticle without being blinded or having a very hard time seeing anything?

Gunplay: It's fast and fun at times but it removes all feel of this being a "realistic" or even a modern engagement and just a relative of MW.

Vehicles: Alright I understand vehicles were overpowered in previous games but come on, they shouldn't die as quickly and should be able to turn the tide of a battle more easily. Yes modern infantry do have capabilities to destroy a tank but not every unit would contain the weapons to do so. Add in that the majority of tanks also have counter-measures to anti-tank weaponery that infantry do carry. Helicopters are fly-by-night (No pun intended) vehicles in which the majority of players will launch with out the driver and either drive it into a tank or bail mid-air to get to the battle. An Apache is not a transport helicopter and shouldn't be treated as such.

Explosives: This is my biggest gripe with the game. I can understand infantry having grenades on them as most modern armies equip their infantry with such weaponry. However, that doesn't take into the count the rocket spam and the mortar spam that can completely ruin your strategies. I understand destructabily is suppose to even the playing field from campers and such but god help me when a building is actually more dangerous to be in then being out in the open due to the wall exploding in your face every five seconds.

Knives: Stabby Stabby..... Ok, I can assume that a knife would be able to take down a person pretty quickly if you snuck up on them. (BF 2142/2 for instance) The thing that urks me is that when clearing I'm out a building, walking through a door, having a cup of tea all of a sudden I'm in killcam mode due to some guy who instead of being quick with the trigger finger was quicker with the knife button. Come on, the knife should be a last resort weapon not the bloody weapon of choice.

Lack of Commander: The matches all see to be run around, kill a bunch, and sometimes capture. Yes I loved this in games like UT2K4 but it doesn't belong in Battlefield games. This game should have more coordination and objectives. Add the old perks of removing Mortar strikes from the average dude and giving it to the guy who is coordinating an attack while also using spy planes to get enemy positions makes more sense to me.

Anyways, enough ranting for one day. Yes I enjoy the game but every time I load it up these gripes are always in my face and making it less enjoyable then it should be. Anyone else have the same problems?

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up that World of Tanks has gone into Open Beta mode. I suggest everyone give this fun and addicting MMO a go. It isn't a WoW, LoTR, clone but a breed of it's own. So give it a try and what's the harm when it doesn't cost ya a penny?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7710-tdlc-0426 Sadly, it looks like you need to run the application from the drive that you want the games installed on.

God I'm starting to feel old thinking back when Steam released. All I can say is that when it released, I didn't like it. I was customed to being able to install my games from a disc and launch the singleplayer without ever having to touch a client. Then CSS moved onto it and then HL2 released with it requiring activation. I had a sick feeling as my experiences up to this point with it was a nightmare. From slow update speeds, to server lists never refreshing, to steam being unavailable at times.

However, Steam has matured into a wonderful service. It is the first place I look to purchasing my games and the sales, oh the sales! As of right now, I can't imagine living without Steam but it doesn't erase the hours/days of mucking around I had to do to get it working.

[QUOTE="--Quadkillz--"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"] They might, but for me they don't sorry.... I used to love them back in the hey day, but today they just hurt my eyes.....lolFelipeInside

You say you're not a graphics whore, yet you say you can't play the game because it would "hurt your eyes". Yet your first post asks why this game is so popular, you seem to contradict yourself a tad..eh? You're immediately trying to understand why the game is popular by looking at screenshots.

No, I am trying to understand why it's so popular.... of course I need to play it to find out, not only look at screenshots.

I am not a graphics whore, but I guess I have limits....hahahaha.

I guess it comes down to by backlog. I only upgrade my PC every 2-3 years, and my computer is now about 2.5 years old....so it's starting to struggle on some newer games... and I am trying to use my time to play the titles which I really want to play.

I don't have time anymore for ALL games (so many come out), so unfourtantely I have to be picky....

I never thought I would enjoy the game myself but I picked it up with my fiancee to play on a co-workers server and we are hooked. I can't explain it but it's just fun digging, crafting, and building the contraptions you want to build. It is almost like a giant world of legos!

To be honest, I trust PC Gamer over Gamespot anyday. Hell, most of the complaints that they had in the review have been echoed by several of my friends who purchased the game on day one. As for people jumping down PC Gamers throat about score, remember that it is always good to read multiple reviews from different sources to help base your opinion before purchasing a game. If you read nothing but negative or positive reviews you will have a skewed outlook of said game and may either end up not purchasing it or being let down after purchasing it.

Is it just me or does it seem "awkward"? I mean it doesn't even look like it's similar to dragon age except for the art style/character style..... I hope to hell that the gameplay doesn't change for the PC as a hack/slash Dragon Age will be downright bad....

It's a fun game but I'm still more aligned with the original. Sure, some people like the removal of base building/management but to me that was a feature that made the previous versions enjoyable.

Bring back Tribes! Bring back UT! (A real UT, not UT3) Bring back Quake! I may not have been the best at these games but they were some of the best games I've ever played. Looking at the lineup of FPSs out there currently and I find my wallet retaining it's money more and more. What happened to the days of just fun shooters? Sure, I enjoy a bit of realism here and there but I really don't want to play generic modern military shooter # 4012.
