@valtiel86: Actually the PSP sales in the US were pretty close to the sales in Japan (17 mil versu 19 mil units) and DOA Paradise sold 50k units in the US. That's terrible even for a PSP game. I'm less surprised by the fact that they aren't bringing it out over here and more surprised that they keep making them at all.

What seems pretty clear from the data is that if you add jiggle physics to a fighting game, it probably doesn't hurt or help that game's sales. However, if you put jiggle physics on a crappy volleyball game and a handful of mediocre minigames that consistently scores 5s and 6s then the jiggle physics will not sell a crappy game. Releasing in a region costs money and I can name probably a dozen significantly better games that only came out in Japan that I would love to play, some which wouldn't even have any localization costs (like the Yakuza HD collection).

The audience for this type of voyeuristic game has always been bigger in Japan. There are actually a lot of games out there for various platforms that are along these lines. PS2 had several, but you never even heard about them over here because there was never even a thought of bringing them over. The only reason we hear about DOAX is because it's associated with a known franchise over here.

@valtiel86: Not really. Yes, the last two editions sold better in the US but they were also Microsoft platform exclusive at the time and both the Xbox and Xbox 360 sold about 16 times as many units in the US versus Japan (and still the game only did about twice the sales here).

Now it's a Sony exclusive, the platform that traditional performs strongly in Japan and the game frankly has a larger audience in Japan.

@Coolyfett: Well, for anyone who wants to they can import the game. The eastern releases will have English language subtitles and menus apparently, not that the game was particularly "language heavy" to begin with.

As for us being forced to miss out on things we want, that's not really the problem. The problem is that not nearly enough people actually want these games. The last installment of the DOAX series for Xbox 360 only sold about 250k copies worldwide, compared to the 1.5 million that DOA5 has sold so far.

@davillain-: Pretty easy. There is no region coding and the Japanese version has English Text/Menus (or an option for them).

I thought he tried to claim in a previous interview that Greedo had always shot first but with the filming techniques and technology available at the time you just couldn't tell so the update was just to "clarify" the original shot.

I hope the next campain goes better. As for their projected cost, $70 mil is what an animated feature costs these days? Holy crap.

It's Ultra Mega Chicken! Billywitchdoctor.com more comfortable with the medium of "chicken".

@TJDMHEM: It's a well reviewed game. In another scene in the third season the author/biographer that Frank is working with shows him "The Stanley Parabole" which Frank tries to wrap his head around before giving up saying that it's "too much like my real life".

@myrmecophagidae: Brilliant.

@mesome713: Take it down a notch, please. We're talking about a video game here. Expressing displeasure at the article content is fine but jumping to a comparison of an actual hate crime is way over the top.
