It also has to do with finding the game mode most appropriate to you. For example i love playing hardcore headquarters and hate playing team deathmatch but others might enjoy search and destroy for example, plus each mode has different strategies etc.
I agree with you to some extent but games such as mass effect 2, splinter cell: conviction and alan wake still give me hope. We have to see what microsoft does at this years e3 before we jump to conclusions, they are usually tight liped about their announcements. At the end of the day though both these consoles will probably be remembered for the cross platform titles such as assassins creed 2, bioshock 2, modern warefare 2 etc etc
What would be the freaking point of only selling a product to half or a third of the market?? Thats like taco-bell saying it will only sell food to males, females have to go someplace else. Or a more representitive example of the gaming industry would be to say that Taco-bell will only sell to older males. No teenagers.
Yes it hurts quality but it also lets them make more money which does what??? Oh thats right leads to sequels and other games and NOT bankruptcy. _AbBaNdOn
i agree with you in terms of making money it would be stupid for them not to release games on multiple platforms, i just meant in the view of the selfish gamer (ie. me) it hurts the quality of the game
While cross platform games allow people that would otherwise be unable to play the game to play it, it can also lead to a loss of quality. Obviously some developers such as ubisoft and ea have minimized this but the problem i have is that i think developers should choose a console their particular game would be well suited for and run with it.
For example i am an xbox360 owner and looking to buy a ps3 in the near future but even if i never bought a ps3 i would still never want FFXIII or versus to come out on the 360 becuase they would need to compress the hell out of the game and spread it across multiple discs which would ultimately delay the game (at least in north america and europe). Another example would be mass effect 2, since ea is publishing the game this time it is not out of reason to assume that it might come out for the ps3 after the initial release and if it did it would be a little strange considering the first one didnt come out for the system, obviously this is total speculation but still.
What do you guys think, are you guys in favor of making games cross platform all the time?
thanks for the help! i'm about 5hrs into the game and i'm loving it... a lot of reading but i find the dreams very interesting and i actually almost shed a tear lol...
one thing though, idk if it's just me but the bosses are really hard lol... i didn't really level up and ended up trying over and over to beat the grilgan on top of mt ipsilon... finally when i did win, my characters were almost all dead! so i stalled for a long while fighting random battles to try and level up but when i got to the grand staff, i had a really hard time again fighting the worm thing that absorbed magic to paralyze the party... finally i figured it out and won but this game takes a lot of strategy to win boss fights huh...
I need to learn about the rings and skills because i just dove straight into the game and now i realize how important it is

This is one of the reasons i liked this game so much its actually got a bit of a challenge to it, but wait till you face the last boss in the backyard or killalon in the DLC cause they are waaay annoying, let me know if you need help :)
Not only do i not mind no coop but i prefer it this way because it lets infinity ward do what they do best when it comes to single player games - focus on a short but exciting cinematic experience. I'm going to be playing multiplayer the vast majority of the time anyways.
