@superklyph Gargar actually

But you seem to be under the same assumption there on 'it's only cosmetics'

"The same people who are angry and outraged about everything."

Take your own advice there mate, you're getting very defensive over this issue.

@superklyph: Discussing the concept in general, not your intentions mate.

Wasn't misplaced, just misconstrued.

@DeFiLeDTitan: Death by a thousand cuts I think.

Identifying this as an issue, but not doing anything about it is one thing.

But to defend it because it's not worth your time to bother with is actually pretty disturbing.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but considering this is an open forum for feedback, it's really fine to post up a view (even if it's contrarian).

By all means guys, enjoy the experience as you please.

But lambasting others for not drinking the Kool aid on this one really isn't cool.

The irony is, I actually have the interests of gamers at heart here. You just feel I'm against you all because I'm critical of a product you have loyalty bias towards.

*shrugs*

@prosperitypark

Call it experience, but I know that once a studio works out it can put content behind a paywall like this, it's a slippery slope downwards.

I really hope that this game doesn't follow suit, but I'm too much of a realist and assume the worst.

This studio isn't making this change to make a 'better experience' for you as a gamer mate.

It's about maximizing the profit margin for them at your expense.

If you honestly believe the development studio will put as much effort into DLC content because they're selling Micro transactions, then you're either naiive or lack broader gaming experience.

Time will obviously tell, but I'm definitely expecting a lot of 'this DLC sucks' comments moving forward for FO76.

Followed very quickly by 'well what do you expect, you didn't pay for it!' apologist commentary.

@prosperitypark:

I am glad your ignorant presence won't be sullying my Fallout 76 experience.

No need to be caustic over it.

If 'free DLC but Microtransactions' works for you, that's fine.

But for many, it's not acceptable.

I will pay for quality DLC anyway, but with FO76 that's an unknown.

They could release a 'homestead' DLC and call it a day for all you know.

You can only made a reasonable arguement based on the facts you know.

But I digress, the broader gaming consumer community is pretty complacent on this issue anyway and I can appreciate the fact enough to know that unless you're publically drinking the Kool Aid on this one, you're likely to attract criticism for even questioning this practise.

Hope you enjoy the game.

I'll come back for the next title that goes back to the traditional experience.

@superklyph: You have been brainwashed.

You are the classic example of a frog in boiling water, like many gamers.

Long term gamers know all too well this whole thing was a requirement for development funding for lower budget releases and free to play games.

Seizing the opportunity and capitalizing on blind gamer loyalty, larger studios realised they could get away with introducing this needlessly into AAA priced gaming releases and also have loyal fanboys defend the practise

But it doesn't alter the fact this is a needless step and only associated with profit maximisation at the gaming consumer's expense.

Whilst I'm a fan of the brand as well, don't let blind loyalty contradict simple objectivity.

This is not a small measure. This is not something to be praised and given a pass. This should be highly criticized and ultimately, abolished.

But that process won't happen because gaming companies grow a conscience.

That begins with you - the gaming consumer.

Wake up mate, you're being taken for a ride.

"with the microtransaction system instead limited to cosmetics"

This is said like it's somehow an excuse to make it acceptable.

It's not.

If we're paying full price for a AAA game, this really shouldn't be a thing. I really couldn't give a toss what the excuse is, but as a long term gamer I'm morally opposed to this nickle and diming method in the industry today after being asked to pay a full AAA price for a gaming release.

There is absolutely no excuse for it at all except fundamental corporate greed.

I was half/half on getting this game anyway (with all the griefer idiots that will no doubt dominate the experience) but to add micro transactions on top was just the icing on the crap cake.

I own every Fallout game ever released.

I won't be getting this one.

I've been 100% digital on Xbox since about the 3rd month of Xbox One's launch and wouldn't go back.

It's far too convenient, simple and definitely my strong preference in acquiring games on this platform.

As someone who was super excited for 'project Titan' for years thinking we'd get a cross breed FPS MMO ala Destiny meets World of Warcraft only to have it turned into Overwatch, I'm content to sit back and not be excited at all.

Overhype me once Blizzard, shame on you. Overhype me twice & I'm the idiot.

Blizzard is a great gaming studio for sure. But their refusal over the years to port the best MMO ever created (WoW) to console has dashed my enthusiasm for their products.

Diablo (whilst amazing on console) simply was no substitute for World of Warcraft. If ESO & Neverwinter could transition to Xbox one with the success they've had, there's honestly no reason why Blizzard should have held off doing the same other than purely by choice.

Certainly, that is their right to do just that but when Blizz is talking about another FPS I am just not enthused at all.

FPS is probably the most over saturated genre on console today and we have some incredible AAA titles out there dominating the market.

What could Blizzard possibly bring to the table we haven't seen a million times before?

A future 'starcraft' FPS? Pfft please. Titanfall. Infinite Warfare? Take your pick and GOOD LUCK trying to get enough market share to make the project worth while.

A true next gen FPS meets MMO however... alright Blizz, you have my attention. Impress me.

Destiny promised so much and failed so hard on what it could have been.

If Blizzard can breach that gap and do it RIGHT? Yeah, they definitely have something worth while.

But until the details are on the table, I'm just not going to be impressed or hyped at all. Been down this path too many times and I don't get excited because a big name stupio says 'hey, we're going to do a new game in a genre that's already done to death'

They need something special to have me even look twice, yet alone consider even buying it.
