@alphazonex: Every game needs a social space nowadays so you can show off your cosmetic junk that you bought with real money.

That's funny. So the early, unpatched build is supposed to run better than the latest, patched and optimized version, regardless of Denuvo's DRM?

@epic_poke8: Someone working for those "media outlets" surely will. Which is why this sounds like a really stupid idea. And they'll most likely be proven wrong anyway.

@dragoonmike: Like it is your fault for working the job you do. People do what they have to to get by. And any game developer certainly has an easier life than many others who have to do backbreaking labor all day long, maybe even working 2 jobs. Yeah, go ahead and blame the people for it. I'm sure you're a billionaire who doesn't have to do anything unless he really wants to. But with game developers, they really have no choice. The best thing they can do is to prove themselves, which can lead to more lucrative work. But if you end up working for a publisher like Nacon, that's likely the end of the line for you.

It's not like game developers can fund their own game. Not anything but the crappiest indie games. And if you get a publisher then that makes that you'll have little control over anything. You don't think you can create a big open world AAA game of a high quality standard with a very low budget? The publisher doesn't care. Do it anyway. Then they'll axe you when the game gets released and it turns out to be just as bad as you knew it would. But at least you've made some money while working on that game, like everyone else who has to work a job each day.

@zerojuice: And who exactly is it that bought the license and ordered them to make a game out of it? You make it sound as if Nacon had absolutely no clue about what's going on. Any big publisher would have probably canceled that game's development very early on, before even announcing it. But for Nacon, that's just the quality level that you can expect from their games. It's hardly the developer's fault that they don't have the budget to turn the game into a AAA product, is it?

Oh, they're owned by Nacon. Well, that explains the shitty quality.Where does this crappy publisher get the money from to buy up all kinds of licenses when their development studios produce mostly garbage? Is the LOTR license that cheap nowadays?

Have any of those developers ever mentioned any specific numbers? I'm sure the latest Football Manager game costs around $70 on consoles as well. And these guys wanna tell everyone that getting some pennies from MS instead, from a subscription service that costs around $10 per month, is very profitable for them? If so then why are they selling their games at such ridiculous prices instead of just charging $10 for them? They'd sell way more than they ever would otherwise and still make lots more profits than they ever could be offering up their games on MS' subscription service. It would be nice. Yet somehow we always hear everyone saying the opposite, that development costs are so high nowadays that they now have to charge $70 or 80€ per game. And the Game Pass offers you tons of games for only $10 per month and it's highly profitable. Yeah, sure.

I'd say it's time to adjust game prices to account for MS' claims. There is no way how a $10 per month service could ever come anywhere near generating as much money as selling even one game for $70. Or even for $20 on sale. Or at any price whatsoever. But if that pocket change that MS is paying developers is more than enough, then game prices really need to go down. A lot.

Oh yeah, for sure. That is why MS is now looking to buy up everyone: So that when they eventually own every single game development company in the world they can release all their games for all platforms out there. Of course, that thas been their plan all along. The reason why they're trying to create a monopoly.

Yeah, that makes it clear why they released the game in the broken state it came out in. And shows that everything he said before was just PR crap to try and appease the angry players and shareholders. The game was in an absolutely horrible and unplayable state and as it seems he is still completely ignorant of that fact.

What a sociopath. He'll say literally anything to get the outcome he wants. And he knows he can get away with it because gamers are dumb and will forget about it soon anyway. Damage to their brand. Yeah, I'm sure that damage would be much greater than the benefit of making COD exclusive. I'm sure gamers would boycott their favorite game. Yeah, like that ever happens. The kids whine and complain and then go ahead and buy the game they've been hating on anyway as soon as it comes out at full price. Probably complaining some more after they've already given the publisher their money. Then a year later the next game comes up and everyone has accepted that COD is now an Xbox exclusives. Yeah, it surely will ruin MS if they go back on their promise.
