Seems a bit shallow to define a series as assassin's creed merely for its mechanics or trinkets disposed for use. Sure, the experience of playing as a acrobatic killer is unique and exquisite, but I believe the narrative is also fundamental, and precisely in this matter, revelations seems significantly relevant. I don't believe Ezio has lost his shine throughout the games, but gain a lot of profundity and a distinct identity. In AC II, Ezio was nothing but an teenager passing through a tragedy, fighting in a war he didn't understand for immature, although intense, reasons. In revelations what you see is a man who devoted his entire life to a cause and just can't put up with this path anymore. He presents not just excuses to be a playable character in a game, but conflicts and doubts that are coherent with a true man, fearful and mostly alone. Even though I agree with the criticism over the repetition in favor of profit the series has provided lately, I don't think it has even one disposable title. The history developed in AC, even if falls into the Hollywood's universal conspiracy cliche, has grown richer and can become an amazing background for new groundbreaking titles ahead.
