Nah, the spike rifle is like the brute version of the smg. It looks like this

Led_poison

O yeah, I cant imagine it being there, since there are no Brutes in the game or atleast shown.

Plus that weapon is pretty useless. Atleast needler is good at long range and the pistol is good for taking down shields and vehicles.

Brutes are in the game...

and I'm sure they could have made adjustments to it to make more suitable for the game. Kinda like what they did for the needler in halo 2 for halo 3.

If people are still complaining about a warthog shadow, just remember this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lzft2MUOALo

Just watch from 5:38 onwards..

See the shadow?

It's even dynamic, and affected by guns' muzzle flash!

Led_poison

After watching that video If you just watch from 5:22 to 5:27, I'm fairly certain that the weapon the guy Is holding is a plasma rifle, as opposed to the plasma repealer or whatever it's called.

If that's the case I wonder if any of the other duel wielding weapons will appear in the game, but only as solo wielding.

Like the SMG's, Maulers, and Spike rifle

Plasma pistol is there Needler is there, I dont know if you mean Spike rifle as the same thing

It'll probably sell at least some systems. I'm sure one of the few reasons that Microsoft is pulling live from the original xbox besides cutting costs, is to sorta entice those who are STILL on halo 2 whom haven't made the jump.

As much of a bad rep that ODST receives, it's actually my favorite of the entire Halo series, soundtrack wise that is.

This screen was taken off the announcement trailer for halo 3 at e3 2006

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=Halo3Announcement

"We demonstrated the real-time nature of the demo after the press conference (thanks to our friends at Pioneer with awesome audio-video assistance) to a small group of reporters, so we'll wait and see what their judgment on the presentation was, but you should feel free to make your own.

The trailer was built to have minimum impact on the development process, and while it required long hours and hard work from many, many Bungie staffers, it utilizes real-game assets, fiction and locations from parts of the "real" game."

Leejjohno

I don't want to come accross as a hater but the confusion for me is about how vague the word "asset" really is and yours and bungies definition of the word "realtime".

It's not my definition, I just wanted to clarify to who ever was confused which trailers were CGI and which were off the build. That being said in my personal opinon I feelthat the e3 2006 trailer and the section of the game that represented the trailer in the final build of the game are pretty similar, so I feel that the wording (Bungie) they use to describe the early build or representation of the game is exactly what it means. It's the bar they as the developer are putting up, for what the rest of the game should look like.

Halo 3 e3 2006 trailer

Halo 3 Screenshot 11/06

6 months later bungie released the screen shot above.

cgi trailer

Above is a screenshot taken from the CGI commercial that was released 1 month later.

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=9255

"The commercial is a mix of CG and Live Action. It is not supposed to represent gameplay. It is supposed to show pure action from the Halo universe. Think of it like the Graphic Novel. It was made by Hollywood effects house, Digital Domain.Digital Domain did base its stuff on our in-game 3D models."

e3 2007

7 months after that we had our next glimpse of the near final build of the game at e3 2007

There were also many people or haters...whatever you'd want to call them that felt that this was a downgrade from the e3 2006 representation of the game.

So to put out some of the fires Bungie addressed the concerns on their weekly updates.

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=12625

"Then there was the complaint that it was different than the model shown at E3 06. Well it was, but only in that we replaced the "concrete" hammered finish texture with a flatter metal version that the artists here preferred, and was more akin to the previous iterations of the Spartan MJOLNIR metal. Otherwise the model is identical. It's literally the same geometry."

Halo 3 now

And this is basically what it looks like now. 3 years after it's release.

And NOW onto Halo Reach =]

halo reach

I hope this postclarified any confusion anyone may have had...

While I agree that people have high expectations, I do feel that your argument is flawed though. Due to the fact that standards for everything changes with time, cell phones, computers, and life in general. So when something that brand new just comes out, it normally will be compared to whatever is out in the present time. If it wasn't compared, our ability to make rational choices like picking something over another would be so much harder because we wouldn't be able to hold it to an overallstandard.
