If you want a fun and enjoyable game that will provide hours of playtime, get Diablo III...especially if you like dungeon crawling and loot hunting.

Don't listen to the trolls (or the fan boys for that matter). Even if Diablo III was the best game ever made, there would still be naysayers and nitpickers.

It's the nature of of the hobby.

If you want a fun and enjoyable game which focuses on dungeon crawling and loot hunting, then I advise you to wait till this summer and play Path of Exile for FREE. A game which is superior to Diablo 3 on all fronts. Don't say I did not warn you.

I played two of the open beta weekends for Path of Exile and couldn't stand the game. It was way too tedious for a simple dungeon crawler.

While on the subject of other games however, I think Grim Dawn is looking fantastic. I'm a big fan of Titan Quest and think the people behind that game are the only ones capable of making a dungeon crawler that can hold a candle to the Diablo franchise.

So there's one to look out for...but in the mean time, Diablo III will fill that dungeon-crawling-loot-hunting void for months to come.

Diablo always was a solo game, one warrior beating the game sounds more deserving than multiple people scavenging for loot.Blubadox

I agree with you. I always preferred Diablo II solo.

I played online once in a while, but was always disappointed with most of the community members I encountered. Plus, as you already stated, it felt more rewarding beating everything by yourself. The lone hero defeating evil.

Occasionally, LAN play with a friend or two was fun on a drunk Friday night, but I definitely think Diablo is a single-player experience first, and a multiplayer experience for those who crave that sort of thing.

You have spent almost a quarter of an entire month (175/720 hours) grinding loot. You've played around 5-6 hours a day. That means assuming you sleep around 9 hours a day, you have around 8 hours of wake time when you arent left clicking. Taking eating, bathing etc into account you have around 6 hours left. From that you most likely spend another 2-3 hours playing wow or watching tv (anime), leaving approximately 3 hours left of time which you either 1: Go outside, 2: Study, 3: Exercise.

From all of this i can tell:
A: You are not in high school
B: You dont have a full time job
C: You probably dont exercise
D: If you are in college you are taking only 1-2 courses
E: You have absolutely no life

So long

q-bert39

Actually (and I know this sounds weird for the demographics of this community) I'm 31 years old, married, and have a two-year-old son. I only play on my free time, which is during nap time for the kid, and at night after my wife is asleep.

And you're right...I don't work full-time because I'm a stay-at-home-father. However, I do workout in my own preferred ways (I've never been a weight-lifting meat-head). I take my son on 3-5 mile hikes daily while exploring the local wildlife and fauna and looking for new adventures.

Believe me, this game has been a slight problem this last month because it has held my attention so well (and I probably haven't been getting as much sleep as a two-year-old's energy level demands). But I think I have most of it out of my system and am starting to wind down (especially since we just found out my wife is 5 weeks pregnant with our second kid).

Oh, and I hate anime.

The point of my original post was just to say that I wasn't expecting much from Diablo III. I thought it would be a fun click-fest, and it is. But it's sucked me in much more then I was expecting, and for that, I think it was money well spent.

I just think if people stopped nitpicking so much and just tried enjoying the game, they might be surprised.

The game is perfectly fine. Diablo III has way more content then most other $60 games, and far less bugs then some other AAA games.

I have around 175 hours into it and it's just now opening up. The first 100 hours is the tutorial.

Complaining just to hear ones own voice does not make an opinion any more valid.

The problem with this game is all the newbies who think they can come to a conclusion after only 100 hours a gameplay. But those are also the people most Diablo fans wouldn't mind seeing leave the servers.

So long.

Welcome to the new age of pirating.

Buy a game. Complete the game. Then complain about nothing and receive a refund.

What a crappy new generation of gamers this is.

vishisluv7

Crappy new generation of game companies too, if you ask me.

You may be correct there. I didn't mean for my post to sound so harsh.

If you disagree with a company's practices, then by all means boycott away. I totally agree with that and support all forms of civil protest. However, maybe you shouldn't have bought the game in the first place. If you took the time to think everything out, you may have been happier in the long run.

I guess my frustrations come with all these posts about refunds because of promises not made. I have been following this game as long as anyone else here, and am happy with the end result. It's not the greatest game ever (which was never expected), but it's perfectly adequate and very fun. And after nearly 200 hours of gameplay, I feel like I got way more then $60 worth. If I was to get a refund right now, I would feel like a pirate and an @$$hole.

I don't know what people were expecting. It's a mindless click-fest just like it's predecessors. I think everything was promised.

I do think some of these posts about refunds (not necessarily your post) are coming from whiny, entitled, trolling teenagers who probably still breastfeed (which also includes milking their parents for money well into their 20's).

Anyway, to each their own. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the game and I'm glad you're happy now. But I guess you have no place in this forum anymore either, since we're here to discuss the game, and you no longer own it.

If you watch some of their older videos showcasing the gameplay in Diablo 3. The blacksmith can add sockets to items and they could also be enchanted with elemental properties, which would result in weapons with particle effects...aka burning weapons, weapons with electricity coming off of them..ect As of right now those have been scrapped from the release. We dont know why, but one minute they were part of the marketed videos and the next they were gone from the game altogether.Shiftfallout

Old video, old features. Nothing was removed from the final game.

As games are being developed, changes are made until you're left with what works best. This happens with every game as it's being made.

I know, I know...weird, right? It's called the "creative process".

Couple things are obvious, both of you are fanboys.

Shiftfallout

Sorry to keep comparing you to my two-year-old son, but like yourself, he has a limited vocabulary as well.

Disagreeing with you does not make me a "fanboy", and especially not a Blizzard devotee. I've never touched World of Warcraft, and Starcraft is nowhere near the top of my real time trategy list.

However, I have been playing Diablo since the beginning of the original (with Diablo II being one of my most-played and favorite games), and I have to say this new installment is quite fun.

Did Diablo III have to grow on me at first? Yes, but so did Diablo II. The first sequel was quite different from the original in many ways. In the end, however, the changes Blizzard implemented into Diablo II made the game very enjoyable, and Diablo III continues that evolution.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you're completely wrong. You've been flaming these boards since the beta. You decided to not like Diablo III before it was even released, and you keep berating those of us who do like the game because you're starved for attention. I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion. But a rational, logical, intelligent person would simply stay away from something they don't like, instead of wasting time posting about it.

And by the way, there is one difference between you and my two-year-old. Even my son could understand that changes would have to be made to any game between the alpha, beta, and final release. Your original post is completely asinine, showing you can't grasp this simple concept, because those videos are outdated and were just ideas towards an end game. Now we have that final product, and it's awesome.

Get over it.
