Well, there are pros and cons to each, let's look at them:

DS PHATTIE

Pro: Although it's a handheld, it's very sturdy and unless you bite it (in anger as my friend did once, lol) there are'nt going to be many dents

Con: ITS UGLAY! UUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

DS LITE

Pro: It's pretty pretty :P

Con: It breaks sssssooooooooo easily. My friend told me that his DS Lite suddenly lost part of the plastic hinge for no reason.

So what do you want? A peerdy DS that's rly sensitive? or a DS that is sturdy and you have the strength enuf to lug it around everywhere since its so UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYY?
