This is interesting as there was a huge article in a recent Los Angeles Times, where they talked about the fact that despite Disney's massive success with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that the stock was still down and many believed this was due to poor performance of ESPN (the network has taken a huge ratings hit as of late). This may be an attempt to "stop the bleeding", if you will.

It's interesting, but I don't think the games that are going to be required playing should be chosen by a poll, rather a curricula should be developed around several game related principles, such as gameplay design, gameplay mechanics, maybe narrative and storytelling, or visual aspects, and the games should be chosen, based on those principles.

For example, say you wanted to study the effectiveness of hybridization of combining game genres, you could theoretically then study games that have this hybrid element, such as Mass Effect or Borderlands. If you wanted to study narrative in gaming, you could select games that have well developed narrative elements.

It seems like there is a lot of potential to provide a quality educational experience that you don't traditionally see in high school. Teaching subjects that seem historically not possible in the ways that could be utilized in gaming seems rather exciting. Imagine perhaps learning about the different aspects of group dynamics, by completing a series of raids with your classmates in titles like World of Warcraft or even Destiny.

@galva86: I wish. I've seen jeans at Nordie's priced at $230.

I'd rather spend the $600 on "obscenely cheap" clothing at Nordstrom.

Makes me wonder how effective using echolocation would really be in games, assuming you had a surround sound setup and couldn't see anything in the game.

If I remembered what half that stuff was that was included in the update, I'd probably be impressed.
