Is this TV good for the PS3, It's a 37" PLASMA HDTV.  I know a lot of people say Plasmas are bad for games because of burn in but I heard somewhere the newer models don't have burn in problems.

I was going to get this 32" LCD HDTV untill I went to the store and saw it up close, It's a very nice tv but when theres a lot of action and movement on the tv it looks like it smears the image and you can see like blurry movements.  The Plasma however didn't do that it was nice smooth movement even when fast.

Which one should I choose????

so eh.. i dunno much about the tv stuff and all. All i know is plug it in and play the game. I have an HDTV at home(yes gladly i know it's HDTV:P) but i dunno anything about 1080p or some sort. Will it explode if it can't handle my ps3??:P?tokage2006

Haha... maybe (no serious it might, you wanna stick with the 1080p) PS3's love anything that's bigger than 27inches and has 720p or more.

[QUOTE="0extremegamer0"]I have an HD with 4:3 ratio does widescreen really matter?

Thanos_of_MW

Not really, as long as the resolution holds. Is it one of those sets that can compress the scan lines into a 16:9 letterbox? (I assume it is a CRT? )

No, here's the TV I have http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7601491&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat95100050007&id=1130981881933

1080i. It is a CRT and it is HDTV. The aspect ratio is a little puzzling. Do you get HD signals in your home? (cable, satellite, etc) If it is 1080i it means it can put all 1080 interlaced lines on that screen. The part it doesn't describe is the width. Is it still 1920 pixels wide when displaying a 1080i channel? If so it must compress the aspect ratio and give you a letterbox. Interesting set.

Accually that's the tv im going to get, should I not get it? Can you explain what a letterbox is, I have no clue sorry

This is what I mean by letterbox.

As you can see, you get black bars on top and bottom. It is still HD when it gets compressed vertically (you still have 1920x1080i), it just looks smaller because of the "empty" black space.

Oh, thanks

Ill probably get that TV anyway because it's so cheap, It will hold me off till late 2007 when I move to my own apartment, then I can buy a big 40 inch LCD or something plus prices will fall by next year.
