heard good things about Deadman Wonderland. not so much about Casshern Sins, but mostly because nobody seems to have heard of it :P big-ass info dump incoming:
the Toonami revival wasn't even planned before the April 1st response. in addition to the Internet response, ratings were "significantly better"
from what the man in charge says, their budget is pathetic and Steve Blum is basically doing it because he wants to instead of because they're paying him a ton of cash. they're not even using TOM's computer-woman-thing SARA. Adult Swim can't afford more than the three hours, and every show that's being kept on is for personal preference and ratings, not contracts (thought it seems to me starting over the shorter series would have been a good way to go...). probably a "no" to movies because of time constraints, though not ruled out.
stuff like Naruto and DBZ are ruled out because of rights owned by other networks and popular shows like Inuyasha are out because of prices, though he did mention Inuyasha: The Final Act as something they discussed. they want a good mix of new and old. the thing about the "original anime programming" just meant new aquisitions that haven't been on Cartoon Network before. obviously no Total Immersion Events, but stuff like music videos and video game reviews are on. there WILL be a review on May 26. less edits are confirmed for older shows, "if possible". not a lot of promo time unfortunately, though they'll be there, along with bumps that aren't the average Adult Swim stuff. content standards are the same as Adult Swim now, so no more cuts than would've been typical and no less.
shows mentioned for a comeback include Samurai Champloo, no Durarara for now. Gundam Wing and One Piece have been mentioned as "favorites", but that doesn't really guarantee anything. the block probably won't move to weeknights. no IGPX. NO SUBTITLES. no pure comedy stuff. Western shows are being looked at. doubtful on Megas XLR or Boomerang shows (Teen Titans and Samurai Jack) or Reboot. no Spawn. "maybe" on seinen (18-30 demographic with emphasis on story; shonen is defined as 10+, though stuff like Fist of the North Star falls into this category so a better description is just "action-heavy"), though Ghost in the Shell is classified as seinen.
obviously, the April Fool's stuff was possible because it was a one-time deal. and they had to plug the crap out of the DVD releases. no donations. "pre-intros" to shows will be about 15 seconds. if ratings are very good, the thing could get up to all Saturday night.
