Plenty of action and visual appeal make this a very fun game to play, even if you're not a Pokemon fan.
Your character will travel to various destinations collecting Pokemon and battling them against other trainers. Along the way, you'll have to collect some key items to advance from place to place, almost like a role-playing game. Your Pokemon can level up, and in some instances, evolve.The game also carries an interesting story.
The graphics are nicely detailed, bringing the creatures to life, and the accompanying sound effects work well. The controls work effectively and the camera angles keep you focused on the action. There is a large assortment of Pokemon to collect, train and battle, which gets very addictive. And like an RPG, your Pokemon have a decent assortment of spells and special moves.
The only drawback is the dialog. Colosseum, like the rest of the Pokemon games, seems to be geared toward younger audiences. Precisely why I've never played a Pokemon game, until I decided to pick up Colosseum, attracted by its pleasant graphics. Juvenile dialog aside, the action and gameplay proved so addictive, I couldn't put it down.
For charming gameplay and loads of action, this game definitely belongs on your list.
