Strange game, to say the least.

Well what sort of a game has a dog that can throw its arms and legs at the enemies? This one. With that aside, the game is surprisingly quite fun and addictive once you actually get into it. The game is mainly a fun platformer that is certainly inventive in its own rights. When I first rented this game my main thought was “Would it be a fun platformer that isn’t a Mario or Sonic game? The conclusion is it turned out to be a very fun game that I sat down for quite a while playing. Some of the animation on this game are seriously enough to make anyone laugh, the developers really put some effort into this game. Graphics 9/10 Indeed this game does have some great graphics. A perfect example of this is just looking and the backgrounds on all the levels. They are probably some of the best graphics I’ve seen on the SNES. Another fine example is the amount of work that has gone into making that all of Ploks moves look detailed and not rushed. The platforms and ledges in some of the levels look a little boring, but in other levels they would look astonishing and would literally impress anyone that was playing the game (well, back then anyway) Gameplay 7/10 The gameplay is quite addictive when you get used to the controls. The start of the game unfortunately makes no sense and is not explained well enough. (This can cause some gamers to immediately give on the game) But as soon as you’ve cleared around 5 levels the game does become quite additive and fun. One thing that did bug me with the gameplay is the fact that when you were hit by an enemy you would for some reason remain still which is just plain awful because normally the enemies would hit you constantly and this would cause you to lose a life even to the most basic of enemies. Sound 6/10 The music on this game is just plain weird. There really is no other way to describe it. Definitely the only game I know to have such strange music. (A great example is the first boss fight music) *shudders* the sound effects however save this game from the downright awful music that is in it. The amusing sounds of hearing one of Ploks legs hit an enemy still makes me laugh to this day as the enemies would let out a large scream. So apart from the awful music, the games sound isn’t that bad. Difficulty 6/10 As with all games, Normal is Normal, Hard is Hard, and Very Hard is Very Hard. Unfortunately the only way the developers could think of making the game harder was just by speeding up the enemies animations. (This was more annoying than hard) Story 4/10 Without spoiling the game I’ll just say that the games story is not something to go and buy the game for. It’s horrendous. The problem is, with most games the story doesn’t make sense at the start, but with this game, the story still doesn’t make sense. Even after you’ve finished it. Lifespan 5/10 Once you’ve played this game a couple of times though (on hard and very hard) it becomes boring very quickly. This is unfortunate as the developers could have easily increased the games lifespan by just adding a few extra little touches that the game seems to be missing. Total 6/10 Average. My advice is to rent this game, buying it will probably leave you a little disappointed.
