PERFECT DARK - N64 - A beautiful and innovative leap for the shooter genre, this game perfectly(!) acquires it's target!
To say that this is a game that you either love or hate just doesn't do it justice.
My p.o.v. is that you either love this game or you simply haven't played it enough!
From the splendid and futuristic level designs to the engaging gunplay against numerous AI baddies (that are much more intelligent than one might be led to believe), the gameplay overall is saturated with attention to detail and a glowing love for gaming on the developers part. Time and care was taken with this baby. And it shows.
The weaponry! I still want to use the Laptop Gun, or the K7 Avenger when I jump into any other sci-fi shooter that hits the scene these days. They became mainstays of gaming entertainment in it's hayday and they've stayed with me into this new generation of consoles.
The multiplayer capabilities have yet to be equaled (so far!). Challenging deathmatches and team deathmatches, king of the hill battles, etc. all ratchet up ten notches when skilled AI bots are introduced into the fray.
Storywise, if you aren't a fan of science fiction, fantasy or even fiction in general then I could see how you would not be absorbed by the plot. But, at the same time, if you weren't a fan of such things - why are you playing videogames?
PERFECT DARK - It basically has to be wholly experienced to be fully grasped and understood. And that is in no way, shape or form an ill concept for gaming.
