The thrill of Patapon is gone....for the most part.

Patapon is one of the PSP's best games out there. But now that a sequel is here, is it worth questioning? I say, it needs the questioning. Patapon 2 takes away most of the fun from the first.

Patapon features a amazing story mode, Patapon's is better than number 2 of course. This story is darker, deeper, and repetitive to the max. You continuously repeat stuff you did in the first game with a lack of new inspired missions. There are plenty of new bosses to fight, with the addition of the SAME ones from the first! And to top that off, the music is pretty much the same too!

Patapon has a sad excuse for a multiplayer mode. There is no true online play, it is AD HAC mode. The mulitplayer isn't even fun! I mean, are you trying to accomplish something? You can't gain new weapons by hurting enemies, but can gain new items in the end of the fight with a limited number of points. Another thing is the mode expects you to defeat enemies so fast that even a superhuman couldn't complete each one. The multiplayer features a "bring mysterious egg" mode. In this mode, you can get more parts for your new hero character. That isn't exactly rewarding, judging by what they usually give you for a reasonable defeat.

I think what would make my day is if I saw some mythological creatures for bosses in the future. I would just love seeing my little army battle Cthulhu and Madusa. But overall, if you like Patapon already, you should probably buy this. But if you aren't yet immersed by the world, stay away and start with the first game, because you won't be pulled in by this one.
