A fairly solid shooter, but too short, repetetive and ordinary to really get noticed.

User Rating: 7.2 | Pariah XBOX
Pariah is a reasonably solid FPS, but unfortunately it is hampered by its very short length, mind numbing repetitiveness, and just not doing anything paticularly new and exciting.

Plot: You play as a burnt out doctor by the name of Jack Mason who once had a brilliant medical career but has been demoted and now performs routine transport runs. On one of these dull errand runs a transport ship Mason is riding in along with his next patient is shot down by some un-identified bad people. Mason then shoots sme of these bad people and is then infected with an equally bad virus his patient also has. Jack then sets off on a seemingly pointles journey with his pilot Nathan Stubbs and of coarse his attractive patient Karina. This is about as far as the story goes as you wil then square off against some bad dude named Stockton and some other very evil people who want to kill poor Karina and Doc Mason.

Well thats about it for the plot. Now onto the actual gameplay.

Gameplay: Its not that the gameplay in Pariah is paticularly bad, its just that is does nothing new or exciting. You'll run around and shoot generic looking enemies with a good amount of weapons. If theres anything to be said about the gameplay its that the customization of guns is actually very cool. You will come across weapon mod cores scattered throughout the game world that you can use to give your weapons different mods according to your playing style. If you like to stealthily pick off enemies from a distance you will want to upgrade your sniper rifle. If you like to Rambo it Stallone style you will want to upgrade your assault rifle and shotgun. It all works out quite well and will make a big difference in combat. There are also some vehicles you can use in single and multiplayer, but they're all re-makes of those in Halo. The health system is similar to that of Halo as well as the that in The Chronicles Of Riddick. Basically you have four squares of health that can re-charge if only partially depleted. If a whole square is lost you must use a small healing tool that requires ammo to regain entire squares of health. Overall the gameplay is mostly copying that of other more successful games, but after all, Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Graphics: I usually keep this section short, so I will do the same here. The graphics aren't bad, actually pretty good. especially the forests and city scapes. But the indoor areas are bland and boring. Overall good job on the graphical standpoint.

Sound: Gunshots are bland, voices are bland, music is bland, nuff said.

Overall: In th end Pariah isn't a terrible game, it just does nothing new and just copies other games ideas. But, it'll still scratch your itchy trigger finger.
